Call Of Juarez

A while ago the developers of COJ released a DX10 benchmarking demo. While the demo is useless if you want to experience the game it is an excellent tool to test the cards with, especially since everyone who possesses a DX10 card can use it to compare the results with our own. The testing was done with every option maxed.

CoJ is without a doubt a demanding game – the above figures confirm this! You have to keep in mind however that we basically threw everything the game had in its arsenal at the card. As if running at 1600x1200+ wasn’t enough we decided to slap on 4xAA and for the final test even set the textures to high details (while leaving the texture maps all the way at 2048x2048).

The minimal performance drop when bumping up the shadow detail was a nice surprise, as was the small loss we suffered due to the resolution change. The fast memory and GPU did its work, alongside with the shader clock which was being maxed out from the looks of it. That isn’t all that surprising however, since the CoJ benchmark feeds the graphics card with dozens of DX10 shaded trees (not to mention a lot of foliage and long draw distances) every second.
