Re: Sony PS3 3.73 Firmare update released
I'll take your word on the updates being patches now, but I don't understand why my ISP would throttle the update downloads. In my experience, ISPs have typically used throttling based on the traffic...

Re: 1m euros to fund Windows clone
I'm not sure that having a minimalist OS install which requires hours of third-party app installation afterwards is the best course of action. Even with the latter Windows OSes, it usually takes me...

Re: ISPs defend plan for two-tier net
No, as I said before, the problem is not the amount of profit these ISPs/cable companies are making. It is the ludicrous lie that they cannot afford to build out their infrastructure when they are...

Re: ISPs defend plan for two-tier net
The problem is not that these corporations are making profits. It's that they are making OBSCENE profits and then have the gall to turn around and argue for bandwidth caps, a tiered Internet, metered...

Re: Call of Duty : Black Ops! Do you have it??
@Optix
What are your system specs? I was able to run CoD4 at 1920x1200 with 4xAA, but it seems that turning on AA at that resolution in Black Ops really drops the frame rate into the unplayable...

Re: Call of Duty : Black Ops! Do you have it??
Yep, this is a CoD game, after all.
On a semi-related note, I have found that the SP is much more linear than previous CoD games. There is always either a way point close by or another character...

Re: Call of Duty : Black Ops! Do you have it??
I gave in and purchased it on Steam last night. I was a bit worried about the hastily made decision, but I do not regret it. So far, I am nothing but impressed.
I'm guessing that I'm about halfway...

Re: Call of Duty : Black Ops! Do you have it??
I haven't really kept up with the news about this game. Is the multiplayer like MW1? Are there dedicated servers? Mod support?
I really enjoyed MW1 multiplayer but didn't even bother buying MW2...

Re: Visiontek Launches Killer 2100 Network Card
Show me some benchmarks, and then we'll talk. Previous iterations did little to improve gaming performance. With today's faster, multi-core processors, the margin will probably be even smaller.

Re: Google backs HTC
Ah, software patents. Can't we just get rid of them altogether? It's not like they actually help small businesses or promote innovation. In fact, they seem to do the exact opposite.

Re: New AMD based mobile phone to use Windows XP
It's an interesting concept, to say the least, but running even XP is a lot of overhead. Even with an SSD, it's going to take a while to boot up and will be far slower than most phones in this...

Re: AMD Responds to Lucid Hydra platform
I have read several short articles about the Lucid Hydra chip. It sounds interesting, but I have not seen any real benchmarks for comparison purposes with Crossfire/SLI. Until then, I'll take AMD's...

Re: Windows 7 actually boots slower than Vista?
Same here. I previously had Vista 64-bit. Now I'm running Windows 7 64-bit RTM. The system seems to boot up a lot quicker.
I don't think the metric they are using (waiting until the CPU becomes...

Re: Intel Core i7 Skin, Feedback & Suggestions
I really like it. It gives the site a clean and cool look.
However, why does it say "dual-core processing" on the right side when the i7 processors are quad-core (8 threads with hyper threading)?

I'm not sure, but I think the culprit may have something to do with a setting somewhere that our mobility firegl's don't like. For example, the triple buffering issue I mentioned in post #16. Perhaps...

I noticed the other day that opengl wasn't working again, but I found the problem: triple buffering. It seems that the mobility firegl cards in the nw8000 can't handle triple buffering in opengl. So...

If you have a T42p, then the device id for your mobility firegl t2 is probably 4E54 (which is what it should be - nw8000 are just strange). So go into my INF file and change the line for the mobility...
