Win an ATI 4870 X2 video card !

For my 3D drawing assignment, I have decided to draw the ATI 4870 X2. But, looking at 2D pictures is just not good enough, so i need a real card for reference so I can finish my assignment.

A Desire to Game

"A 4870x2 Sob Story"

There once was a young gamer with a 4870x2. The gamer would push his X2 to the limits. Playing at all hours into the night, at resolutions beyond 1080p, and would crank up the AA/AF just to show off. He would abuse his X2. Not updating the latest Catalyst drivers, leaving the fan speed at default levels, and providing poor air flow so that the X2 would choke on his Raptor's exhaust.

Little did the unsuspecting gamer know that his X2 was plotting against him. Several times the X2 would lock up and pretend to overheat, but the gamer never listened to its cries for change. The X2 thought, should I come at him with the Crossfire bridge? No! Should I choke him with the 6/8 pin power cables? No! Violence was not the answer. Instead, X2 chose to flee the abusive gamer and never look back.

In order to change his identity and throw off his tail, the 4870x2 split via binary fission. The 4870 cores gathered their belongings, packing extra thermal compound for the journey, and set out in hope of cooler temperatures and possible liquid cooling if they found a good, loyal owner.

Please help me - my old ATI AIW9800Pro is such a poor performer with modern games that I have become the embarrassment of my family - my daughter accused me of molestation, my wife started sleeping with the local Snap-On tools guy, and my parents not only removed me from their will, they had my birth records changed to say that OJ Simpson is my father! I can't live with this shame; a spanky-new ATI 4870 X2 will put me back in good graces so that I'll be back in the will, my wife will return WITHOUT the STD called socketmidia, and my daughter will admit that her accusation was fueled by tired eyes and gamer fatigue from using an out-of-date graphics card...

Hey, found this competition when I was researching graphics cards. Thought I'd enter it. I actually do have somewhat of a SOB story to tell. Just recently I bought a new laptop for school, a Sony VAIO worth $1800. Then my desktop started to have problems, and I decided to sell the laptop to upgrade my desktop. Currently I'm running an old system with 256mb graphics, 2gb ram, windows vista home, pentium D processor. Well- Before I sold my laptop, it got stolen. Now I am stuck with my old junky computer, and no money to upgrade. The end.

I would like to win this card like everyone else. everyone almost has the same excuse- cost too much. I am not trying to build another system because i have only 1. we all here are poor, and we are begging for the same item . the fabled ATI 4870 x 2. My honest real sob story - got hit by car ; lost leg ; on fixed income disability with family of 5; wife on anti depressants so no play there;
O.K , now lets cheer it up a bit, Im a gamer. love computer games. not that ported over to P.C crap. but real games. from the land of monioocrome color pong, 386, floppy disc wolfenstien, duke nukem and the cool catch phrases as well as id`s famous Doom. color wasnt great, had to set up everything in dos just to get it to run.( I used to do tech support for gateway, microsoft and dell) which made setting up games easier. From monocrome to 8 bit, 16 bit then 32 bit color I was spellbound as my world of games got more realistic. 14 months ago i borrowed money from my brother to build a computer to play games - mostly the new game everyone talked about Crysis. my brother gave me a copy for xmas and i was disappointed to discover that my card could not play it. At the time I decided on a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R because it had some upgradeability. DDR2/DDR3 65NM/45nm chip but it had only 1 PCI express 16 slot. by the time crysis was out I was not able to exchange video cards. I made sure I had a 1000 watt PSU 80 certified.
I have been a member of this form for almost a year any I enter every PCI express 16 video card contest hoping to win as others do. I read the articles on the products tested and come away with information I did not have before that is laid out in an non biased independent view. I do not hang around just to beg for the latest hardware release. I hope this time will be different and I will win. I have given you a sad story, but here is the twist. I do not moap around with a poor me additude. life is what you make it. With this card i will be able to play ANY game for quite some time! The joy it will bring playing first person shootersagainst people who get upset because you can get 15 headshots against them or knife them 10 times and they have no idea where you came from.
My kids will be able to enjoy games as they are ment to be played, ( and school work/ programming/french). my three year old loves puzzle games and is great at it! My family is gifted at computers! we are blessed aND WE ARE HAPPY. WE ARE LOOKING TOWARDS THE 31ST TO THE WINNER( HOPING IT IS US.)

I would like to win this card because it may bring some meaning back to my life. After the tragic loss of my close companion this year, I have wandered wether it was worth going on. What had life to offer me apart from loneliness and boredom. My companion had given me thrills beyond compare, a life outside the norm and happiness that kept me sane. Without my graphics card I am nothing, nothing , nothing - please help!!!!!

Well, I had just recently updated my computer hardware. I mean total update from laptop to desktop. During a long session in BF2 my ninja-cat rolled in and asked if "he can has a graphikz?" and looted my graphics card. I started to chase him around the house and managed to knock down a set of candles. As a result of this, the house catched on fire. First thing that came in my mind was that I need to rescue my new computer, even though it has no graphics card anymore. So, off to my room to get the computer and then head out. All I could do is just watch the house burn down with all my stuff in there.. and I never saw that damn cat again. So now I have just an incomplete computer set.

I'm 20 and study software engineering. I'm using a P4 2.0Ghz with a Radeon9600. I love games but haven't been able to play anything new since Doom3. I'm saving money to build a new comp but parts are a lot more expensive (if findable) where I'm living in South America. My aunt's coming from the US next month, I'd be happy if she could bring this video card with her. Thanks.

I need it because it isn't even out in the markets here (hell, even if it was, I don't have the money to buy it), so you guys are like my savior. The only other option I have is stealing my dad's credit card and buying it off some online store.

Far Cry 2 is kicking my ass. The game looks so bad graphically that it would make you cry at the potential I'm missing out on.

Plus I'm poor as dirt. And you have to agree, dirt is fairly poor.

I'd personally like to stick to Windows XP. With this videocard you can crank up the details so amazingly high in DirectX9 you actually believe you are playing a DirectX10 game, but without the Vista issues. This card does not only tear all game engines apart, it spits the frames out like razor blades. Butt-easy is the word, a new definition in gaming is born.

I should have this card cuz i've been participating for years in this contests with every single bit of imagination I never thought I had... for just a lame reason to buy another pc... (still with agp 4x waiting for a reason... xD!)

Some seconds (actually minutes but that doesn't really matter) ago I started to read the reply's... yeah my first thought was the one I pointed out like 9 lines above above this one.

My second thought was to read the non-pathetic-ones and search for mystical inspiration there but... nope... I found strange pseudo-reason...

My third thought... why should I bother to write this reasons at 4:24am (while Im stu/dy/ing anyway)? Reason: because I have the hope that some administrator/staff dude or anyone who have voice in the selection would read this and say: "hey, this has to be the best reason i've ever seen in a DH contest!!! OMG I have to tell the other guys about the post"...

Well having almost lost everything that was important to me in the last year(Wife, house, job, dog,sanity)No Joke! I'm trying to rebuild my life and would love to have a shiny new GFX card in my PC(I have alot of free time to game these days...I'm a Canadian living in Norway(came for my ex-wife) and now Im virtually alone here )
I bought a 1200W PSU for my last rig and well its kinda laughing at me(despite the fact it feeds a power hungry 2900XT..)
I can't really afford any kinda upgrades these days as the interest on my new house is just going up and up and pretty soon I won't be able to afford it either.(oh and now I have a leak on my ground floor that is flooding the bedroom..)so you see I have pretty much only one kinda luck, BAD LUCK...
I just need a stroke of good luck to get me back on track and winning 4870 X2 would certainly cheer me up and be a step in the right direction.

I have very desperate story. It maybe difficult believe, but it true. My name Nynten Do Gaim Boi. I last of famous Gaim Boi tribe of Outer Mongolia and one day be village chief. You might have heard of us? No? Oh ok. But surprised. Anyway, I live near local cesspit in small village called affectionately “Pit of Bad Donkey Behind” by people who live nearby, but for some reason don’t visit often. I think called this because one time a misbehaving donkey got left behind on walk, but not sure. Will ask Rink Li, the village elder.

In village, I known simply as Bin Ping Ping Ka Wai Shu Gwai Ho Ping Yau Bruce Li Donga Donga Donga Pai Beef Fried Rice Lu Shing La Fa Si Do Wai Bong Po Kawasaki Hitachi Genghis Kahn Do Dju Bar Bra Strie Sand Aaaaaah, or “Game Player”. I love game. I am champion of village sport Bai Shi Pu, or “Grandma Bobbing”. I can push 1008 grandmothers under water so they bob in unison in only 2 minutes. Village record! Papa very proud, before he pass away. He try bob Grandma but push too hard and she sink too far and implode with much force. Poor Papa.

Anyway, I lose point. Recently, I wake to hear all villagers jump around and shout. At first I think “oh good, another game of jump and shout”, but no! Traveller in village! He missionary. He spread good word and show miracles. He have magic box that he worship often. Box full of lights and have window to other world. In world he control man with “Nano Suit”. This strange as Nano in our language mean “Jam” and Suit means “toupé”. Anyway. He great warrior and can go invisible and fast and strong. He crazy! He kill everyone! He Psycho! No really, he is Psycho. Now he challenge me to what he call “deathmatch” for Village Chief position! In Papa memory I must accept.

So I build magic box too. I make out of string, mud and donkey. It very hard. It take me many hours. Someone give me copy of “Custom PC” magazine, but have no advice for using donkey insides for CPU. But I find a way! Strange smell when overclock. But alas! I run out of donkey before make graphics card! I try use pig but not enough pipelines. Try use sheep but apparently need ram. Try use yak but run too hot. Try use grandma but she old and not enough memory.

I must win. If no win, then village lost. Punishment very severe from Rink Li. He force me eat underpants of whole village. I lose respect. I surely die. Maybe you help…?

In northern Connecticut born and raised. On the playground where I spent most of my days. Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool. And all playing D&D outside of the school. When a couple of guys, who were up to no good, started making trouble in my neighborhood. I got in one little fight and my mom got scared, and said no computer for a year.

No computer, yo this is bad. Can't check my email or own some noobs. If this is what its gonna be like, this isn't alright.

I whistled for a cab and when it came near the License plate said "DGNMSTR" and had 36 sided dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare but I thought naw forget it, yo home to best buy.

I pulled up about seven or eight and I yelled to the cabby "yo, home play you later". Looked at my kingdom I was finally there, to post in this thread and win a 4870 X2.

after typing this. Oh God, I think I have diarrhoea too, so I can't continue
