Hey DC! I have my last this years exam tomorrow so if i pass it i would need new VGA to play all the games i missed this summer coz of studying... And if i fail it i desperately need this VGA so i can sell it and payoff the year i need to reapeat (or classes i need to retake).

I could put this card to good use. Long nights of gaming playing Far Cry 2 when it comes out, catching up on Crysis and finally beating HL2: Episode 2 in all of its glory! Folding@home while I'm@work too, will be able to fold those proteins really fast! And heating up my room in the winter cause oil is too damn expensive! I could donate my old ATI card to my sisters computer, she has onboard which eats her system RAM so she would be happy as well to finally be able to play the sims. I've never won any contests but will my dreams finally come true? Probably not but as they say, it is worth a shot!

I deserve this card because I've been married 20 years today. I live with my wife and two teen-age daughters in a virtual estrogen hell. My only friends at home are my chihuahua that bites and my PC with a three year old video card. I guess you could say that it "bites" also. Please help...

I deserve this card because I can't afford any upgrades. With the U.S.'s recession, on top of living in the hardest hit state (Michigan), there's just no way I could get the money, or even a job, in order to buy anything new for awhile.

This would give me something to finally play games at their potential and cheer me up a little about being poor :'(

I live in a wealthy Northern European country, why should I have this lovely piece of hardware ? Because as rich as the country might be, just as poor am I.
I'm an 18-year old high school student, with college looming on the horizon, my finances will soon prove inadequate to sustain my need for entertainment.
Frankly, they are already inadequate, I can hardly afford new games now, not that I can play that many games on my tormented ATi X1600, Athlon 64 rig.

Don't get me wrong, I don't need all the eye-candy in the world, some games have so much more to offer, but my rig is slowly dying. With studying taking up half my day, I have very little energy or time for anything but gaming in my leisure time, it's my greatest pleasure at the moment, and I'll be losing that in due time, because I simply can't afford an entire pc.

I never owned any high-end GPUs because I never had the money to buy them. I'm currently a student & a part-timer.


I love playing Computer Games but my GeForce PCX 5300 can only take me so far. My friend as a kind gesture bought me the “ Half Life 2 Episode Two ” which did not run & made my system unstable.


So, I want to win this awesome ATI beauty so that I can finally play and enjoy some of the games that I own. Winning this card would be so awesome for me and extra special since it was won at Driverheaven.

U should give me this card because :-

A) I can’t afford these crazy beasts right now coz I only get $15 a week in allowance and begging is NOT an option with my parents .

B) I don’t have any plan to rob a bank to earn the money required to buy a DX10 graphics card .

C) I am currently using an MotherBoard which only has an GeForce PCX 5300 Graphics & even the 2D games are denying to run on this.

D) I need to win this sexy 4870 X2 because my girlfriend wants me to stick something a little longer in her PCI-E slots.Unfortunately, I only have a GeForce PCX 5300. My girlfriend will be able to play for hours with something as long as there’s one of these awesome ATI beasts.

I believe this card should go to someone who cannot afford to buy them and I am one of them.

I feel like I am living on disability pension for a long time because I have yet to make the final pay for the upgrade I did 10 months ago. so upgrades are few and far apart.

I love High - End graphics intensive games but since childhood all that I have ever done is read about them & in my entire life I only owned 2 PCs , Athlon Thunderbird 850 Mhz & a Sempron 2600+.

Why ?? Cause I'm only a student & my parents philosophy is something like this : " Old is gold so, if it works, then why do u need a new one ".

So , high-end Graphics is like a wet dream for me. I have never had such powerful graphics subsystem and probably never won’t be able to buy coz they are way to expensive for my thin wallet.

When I saw my friend’s ATI 4870 in action I came to know that how "fantastic" this card can be if there were two of them. I’m a huge fan of Oblivion but can’t play.

I own an integrated graphics system at the moment. Sad but true. Students life is kinda like, “ Mental Sadomasochism ”.

Try Yourself playing anything with Sempron 2600+/512mb/ Geforce integrated and You’ll see
how “ SMOOTH ” it is.


So, a new shiny speedy graphics card would bring me much joy for many years to come for sure.

I've recently become a serious gamer and I am totally hooked. Here's the problem, I've got a crappy graphics subsystem. I consider myself a pretty good gamer, but due to video card issues I'm dead long before I see my opponents. I think my best FPS has been maybe 24 with an average of about 12-14. I don 't need to tell you that playing online with a 14 FPS is like sending a letter by mail to my friends and family. It's incredibly excuciating. I'd buy one in a heart beat, but alas money is tight and can't afford to buy a new card. Please help a brother in arms fight the good fight and actually get my frag rate a bit better.


I love BF2, but I can only play on low and the frame rate still often drops. Also I can't play many new games.I generally try the demo games first, but most of them were unplayable on low at 800x600. If I won this ATI 4870X2 card, I’ll be able to play all recent games at decent frame rates.

I would take care of her just like my baby & won’t try to overclock her at all so that she can run cool all the times. I won’t be doing any kind of overclocking just to see some better FPS ratings.


Well I can't say that I am the most deserving here but I’m certainly one of them.Please Driverheaven , make the right choice.I will treasure it with my life.I’m a poor student & can’t afford these kind of fancy things.


I obviously would loved to play games in a high-end system but frankly speaking, I don’t have that kind of money to buy these monsters.So, high-end graphics is still like a luxury to me.

Using onboard video just exudes embarrassment. As a humble computer user I have never been blessed with the capacity to enjoy such delightful and entertaining gaming gratification. The perils of raising two children detract from the more arresting things in life.


I think I deserve this powerful l graphics card because of my patience, I have been saving up for a gaming PC for many years, and I still can't afford one because of the really high prices of computer hardware (which have ruined my gaming dreams as well) . It took me 4 full years to accumulate some parts for a new PC and I must say,this ATI 4870 X2 would be a wonderful jump in performance. I could sell my old rig and put that $ towards something more useful (another step closer to an AM2/C2D build ).


Believe me, the whole gaming world has gone against me because I can’t play any new games with decent frame rates. I also had to make excuses to my friends on many occasions that, I don’t like to play games which u know, I simply lied to them coz I just can’t play the Half Life 2 Episode Two & Crysis with my crappy graphics. I simply need a new card to revive that gaming lust in myself.


You guys are holding an awesome give-away just for our sake .I have never owned a gaming PC and I just hope I win so I can finally get rid of my old gaming subsystem.This new graphics card could give a leg up to my next build, and I'll be thankful to Driverheaven if I win.

Here's a sob story for you:

I won a Radeon HD 3870 here at DriverHeaven.net. It's a nice red Diamond card, and I was all happy with it until I read yesterday that Diamond 3800 series cards are defective. Which means that any day now I can expect my 3870 to die a horrible death and take the entire planet with it.
Obviously, you need to give me the Radeon 4870 X2 to save my PC and make the world safe again.

One of us is the WASD guy and the other is with the mouse delivering the head shots. We are the perfect team and we make ravages in online games.

hi there, my and my best dude always sort of competed with our PCs. Although we weren't buying new hardware every month (rather every 1-2 years excluding minor updates) it was fun to know that I have better gfx, cpu etc. For example few years ago a had gf6800 and he had gf5200 and almost everything was sluggish on his PC But couple of months later he bought shiny new PC and I was miserable for some time. Then I was doing my best to get money to "be on top" again, and finally I did it. It's easy to predict what happened then...So the situation is kinda difficult, now he's got better PC. Any known ways of getting money are not enough to perform quick counterattack, so I do really need that 4870X2. It would make him crazy just thinking how the heck did I got that sexy ATI gfx (I do really hope he's not taking part in this competition otherwise it would be total disaster). And what's more if I get 4870X2, it will make him do his best to get better gfx as soon as something better will come out, so it will speed up our tiny-little the-most-important-competition-in-the-universe

I was born in a poor household and at the age of 4 I was forced to go work in a far east sweat shop for Nike. I worked there until I was 12, but I had saved up some money so I managed to get the long boat to the USA, I worked in macdonalds for 5 years cleaning and picking up fries and all the rubbish people dropped. I lived off semi clean burger meat and scraps people left after their meals.

When I had enough money I went to work in a garage nearby that employed mostly people from mexico. I worked cleaning cars for the rich californian people. I sent most of my money home to my family and I keep enough to live off bottles of water and mostly discarded food that people drop each day or throw out of their cars.

I am now 20 and I have never had enough money to own a computer. I use my bosses computer at night in his office while he is out getting his dinner. I have almost enough money now for all my components and I won a free monitor in a computer store giveaway competition.

If I won the 4870 X2 I would be able to play the only game I have, which is Crysis, it was given to me by a colleague in work who didnt like it.

Sadly, when I posted this picture on DH's "Post Yourself" thread people actually believed that could be me! They must figure if I'm dorky enough to own an nvidia card what other douchebaggery could I be up to? If I were to own an ATI 4870X2 no one in their right freakin' mind would ever think a lucky guy like me would ever look like that...and if I did pose with my guns and guitar collection I would be sure to prominently include my 4870X2 in the collection!

I went to the optometrist the other day to have my eyes check and I was told that I needed glasses to see well and I had to choose between a ati radeon hd4850 and glasses and I chose the glasses. Now I can't play any games because I chose the glasses. It is like having a choice of a coca cola or the empty bottle. i would rather drink a coke. I need this card because my family has been kidnapped by a supersecret evil terrorist organization who are demanding I design them the ultimate weapon, or they'll start killing them one by one. (So far, they've sent me four fingernails in a box)

This card will enable me to run the top of the line 3D CAD programs, as well as provide spare GPU cycles for the terrorist group's folding@home team (which they've insisted I join, or more fingernails!)
