Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

ok here is what i would like to see go on with ASUS cards.

1) i would love to see an onboard led display. perhaps facing window of a case. or in the rear. telling you vital stats such as case temp, core temp, frequency of core and mem. this would be pretty useful as you could see what is going on with your card(s) without closing out a game and opening up a program to detect such things. there are already sensors, just tap into them.

2) how about some trick custom lighting. perhaps multiple/different colored led's on the card itself(top and bottom) to illuminate the case with whichever color you choose from a custom control panel. perhaps mix and match to achieve the look you are going for. would sliders be out of the question to change the intensity of certain colors or overall brightness.

3) i know this might possibly break a trade law, but how about a performance increase for users of ASUS motherboards? i'm not saying to change reference design of card to better suit ASUS motherboards, i see the ethical issue with that. only that who better to adapt a video card driver to the certain features and bios options of an ASUS motherboard than...ASUS. not only would you have incrrease in performance, but also perhaps a demand for higher motherboard sales.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

Going back to the front panel in a 5.25" drive bay, I really think this could be nice. Not only can it have a display for all the desired info about the card, but it could have buttons to select a profile (for clocks, fan, voltage). This will not only be more convenient than running an app for that, but will also not require such an app to run, so gamers who prefer to have as few programs running as possible while gaming would still get control of the clock without that.

I would like to see more advanced cooling systems, especially cheaper watercooled cards. Then you could apply faster factory clocks.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

Try reach:
-shader clock 1470MHz
-engine clock 680 mhz
-Texture Fill Rate (billion/sec) 48.2

Support:
-OpenGl 3.0/3.1
-Shader model 4.0

-Using DDR5
-And i think if Asus want to lead GPU , so take a look for the HYDRA Engine designed by Lucid Co.
-More memory
-HDMI output port
-Thermonamic Electronics(Xiamen) Co.has been in producing the thermoelectric module ( you should Take a look) so nice and sweet.
-Multiple-core chips
-And for cooling system i suggest to include with the card Box ,an water cooling block come with it for the user want water cooling system (option)
-And for air cooling less noise Fan will be great with more rpm.
-overclocking Programe for easy monitor and overclock.
-Heat Pipe Integrated Heat Sinks better solution.

-And i Suggest RoG chip on GPU for more OC wooooooow .

i see Asus lead the mobos Tech. and i want it to lead the GPU too.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

I think Asus have already good graphic cards but they need this to Own!

1 - Have the standart card overclocked a bit, the overclocked a bit far one, the overclocked godness and the overcooled one with liquid cooling...overclocked higher

2 - The coolers, they donīt need cool stickers on them, they need to be special, theres a lot of heat on the GTX ones and features like pure copper or dual fan are needed or why some have Lifetime Warranty, does it matter? Hell yeah!

3 - Programs like RivaTuner are used to overclock, and if Asus created a universal program like AMD fusion to overclock, but besides that to upgrade nvidia drivers, vga card BIOS, and a graphic chart with this: Youve got a single GeForce but if you got a second or third one you will have X% of performance!

4 - Asus use the Republic of Gamers and much of the top mainboards, AND why not to USE the brand ON the TOP VGA Cards...well other manufactors have XXX, KO edition, fata1ty...but all we want are those 2 angry eyes saying R.O.G. edition!

5 - At last HDMI output on ALL the VGA cards, people don't need to buy monitors cause of the prices of the TV LCD HD monitors out there are falling I mean comeON folks, HDvideo and Sound through a only cable

Think of that!

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

One thing that is definitely feasible would be to use TECs, not for cooling, but rather for power generation. The heat from the GPU that would traditionally be just blown off as hot air could be routed to a heatsink via heatpipes, and along the multi heatpipe rails the TECs could be mounted. The only question is what the power would be used for, likely for extra fans, so that as the inside of the chassis gets hot, as does the card, the fans powered by the TECs should pick up speed and blast the hot air out, thereby keeping the whole system cool while not drawing any more power from the PSU.

Single slot designs are very nice.
Keeping the power usage as low as possible with out reducing performance.
Keeping it cool and still single slot.
The simplest ideas are often the most difficult

Heatsink design with the ability to replace the fan with a standard case fan of the customer's choice.

Thicker and/more heatpipes improve the efficiency of heat transfer from the gpu to the heatsink.

Heatsink on the back of the video card to remove heat from the rear-side of the gpu core.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

Asus graphics cards are already great. Heres a few ways to make 'em better -

-A better cooling solution than the reference cooler. Ideally, it should run cooler than the stock cooler and take up only a single slot. This is the biggest thing you can do to distinguish yourself from your competitors.
-Sell all your cards pre-overclocked by a bit. If there are two cards from different manufacturers which cost the same and are practically alike, everyone will choose the one with higher clock speeds, even if it is something like 20Mhz.
-Give us a few different stickers to choose to put on the card. If someone doesn't want the sticker, they don't have to put it on.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

Another idea for a feedback/control panel gadget is to have it wireless (using a low power wireless standard such as Bluetooth or Zigbee). It could then clip to the monitor or stand on the desktop, and so provide its functionality regardless of the PC's location, and with the same benefits as the wired drive bay panel (i.e., no software required).

Another advantage of wireless is that it could hook to several devices. If you have triple SLI, all graphics cards could show on the same device. If ASUS extends such support (i.e., wireless reporting / control) to motherboards, then the same device could be used to see the motherboard/CPU status and control overclocking.

The benefit of no software extends not only to comfort and not wasting PC resources, but also to troubleshooting. Such a panel can provide feedback regardless of the OS, and even if the OS doesn't work. It could report problems with the card (whatever the card can diagnose) and the motherboard, if it supports this.

One other feature seriously needed on ASUS graphics cards is an outstanding warranty. Doesn't have to be a lifetime or double-lifetime warranty like some others, but it would be preferred to see at least 5 years of coverage.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

First and foremost custom cooling solutions would be appreciated.
Perhaps invest in an efficient and silent heatsink design that could be adapted to different cards from both Nvidia and ATI, since a custom design for a card that may be on the market only for 6 months isn't very practical. A heatsink designed to accept standard fans (80/92/120mm) could be a nice idea - the end-user could then choose whether to focus on noise or cooling performance.

Feature(s) I don't want to see: Don't go the bling-route. Adding blinking lights, psychedelic colors, boot-up sound effects, or anything of the sort will not make the product better! I hate to see resources wasted on something that has no impact whatsoever on the actual performance of a product. Instead, I'd much rather read that you've been able to craft the PCB out of recycled milk cartons or eliminated some toxic material from the manufacturing process.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

I'd like to see a card:
- which can fit in tight cases (short PCB)
- to be dead silent (especially in 2d mode) - sound proof design with active noise cancelling
- to have a futuristic design like an invisibile plane (B2 black bomber) with hidden vents, black metal, invisibile cooler, dust proof cooler, no circuits visibile, sound proof materials
- to be modular - to be able to easily interchage a cartridge of noisy cooler with another new one
- nanotechnology cooling
- to be able to project through the back vent a laser image with statistics on the room wall
- power consumption in idle/2d mode to be really small
- the cooling solution could be inspired from biology - it could be something like a lung using air presurized muscles for total silence

Prodigys is an unknown quantity at this point

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

What future features would you like to see on forthcoming Asus video cards?

Nothing really... Asus is making good things and doesn't need to be corrected.
A nice little thing on Asus cards maybe is selling naked cards !
And maybe make a graphics card cooler line-up where you can choose your own cooler on the card you want. Asus is already making CPU coolers, why not GPU coolers ? And this combining with selling naked cards is the best solution for the costumer. He can choose then what cooling solution he wants, passive or active, overclocking purpose, or just cooling purpose ?

Also a strong PWM with different phase's on the card would be good.
This with a special voltage adjustment software tool that will work only on Asus cards would be very great !

Considering Asus's already successful foray into motherboards, it shouldn't be too difficult for a port of the clean and green power solutions to work its way into their graphic cards. cleaner (meaning a well filtered signal) power should theoretically translate to higher stability, which could translate to more performance and better overclocking.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

Here's something that I don't know if it's possible, but I think it's an idea worth checking out. I'd like to see PCIe cards that have the full 16x width, but fit into x1 and x4 slots by having missing lanes. After thinking about this I googled, and found out that someone has already tried such modding, and failed (i.e., only the first lanes were active, not any after the gap), but perhaps it's possible to use non-contiguous lanes with support from the graphics card or motherboard. PCIe does support 12 lanes as a valid width.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

Errrrrrm,

The main reason I buy ASUS graphics cards is because I buy ASUS motherboards, and so somehow assume they will work better together.

The way for them to sell loads is to somehow show that the graphics card will run 10% better or cool 10% more if it's paired with an ASUS mboard, and vice-versa. If they could show figures like that, no-one would buy anything else.

Because ASUS make good graphics cards AND motherboards, they're in a unique position to do this.

More specifically, maybe merging the cooling somehow, with heatpipes? Like, a clip-on one that connects the card to the existing mboard heatpipes. Call it ASUS co-ordinated cooling, or something like that.

Re: Win an ASUS GTX275 Graphics card @ Driverheaven!

another idea would be to bring back Dual Firmware. One would be for usage, and the other a write protected Recovery firmware. Much like how Galaxy used to do. Coupled with a fast firmware flashing software, and covering overclocking within recommended specifications with warranty, would definitely pull a lot of enthusiasts if the interface is feature rich enough with all the information that an overclocker would need. the dual firmware's recovery mode would aid whenever a flash goes wrong, making it almost risk free.
