Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!

Everyone is wrong. The air doesn't flow at all. The design of the Raven RV02 means that it flows through the air. I'm pretty sure that's what Silverstone was going for when they designed the case.

To make this easier to understand, I will explain a little. For many decades, people thought that faster-than-light travel is impossible, but it was recently proven otherwise. By stretching and contracting the space-time continuum around the ship, it is possible to travel at speeds far beyond the speed of light without moving an inch. What this RV02 does is exactly that. It stretches and shrinks the space-time continuum making it flow through the air, and not the other way around.

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!

The air flows directly upward from the bottom three large fans to the top. Playing on the principle that the hot air rises thus allowing the rotation of the components 90 degrees counter-clockwise (as compared to a standard position of the motherboard and PSU) to channel the cold bottom air up through all of the hardware and dispense heat out of the top of the case.

but i also like skylineaddict's idea

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!

You can use the upwards air flow to spin some small and really cool wind turbines placed on the top, that will produce enough echo electricity to power up some leds and tune this chassis to the max. Blue leds if possible.

The air within the Silverstone Raven flows from bottom to top; the movement of air and styling of chassis is an industry first.

Long story short, skylineaddict is saying you can remove all those fans from the case as they are useless anyways.

And also, the air flows from the bottom to the top in the Silverstone Raven RV02.

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!

Because of the rotated motherboard design, the air is forced from the bottom of the case to the exhaust panels at the top of the case - this employs the "heat rises" concept to dissipate heat effectively.

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!

Airflow is directed from the fans located at the bottom of the case to ensure an upwards airflow, even you have a PSU with only a fan at the back, in which case the air inside the PSU is directed out through the rear exhaust of the PSU (which is also pointing upwards). Additionally, any components (for example, a dual-slot graphics card) with an exhaust will also expel their airflow to the rear of the card, which is pointing to the top of the case.
The only time that you would not have the airflow being directed upwards is if you were being a plonker and - for some reason - you decided to lay the case on its side.

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!

It's a trick question, but I'll humor you: The three large 180mm FN-181 Silverstone (available retail mid-Sept) fans in the floor of the case draw in cool air from below, and force it upward, through the nicely designed exhaust system at the top.

And the other side of the coin: Which way does the air flow?-- It doesn't. If I end up with the Raven 2 I'll water cool it. CPU, Board, GPUs, Ram. I'll end up using 4 FN-181s on a Mo-Ra Pro, externally. Maybe even a water cooled PSU? Ergo, air never hits the inside of the case. Bless SSDs.

good luck everyone!

What way does the air flow in the Raven RV02 chassis?

there is a direct upward airflow from bottom to top - also called the stack effect by silverstone

I really could use that PSU because the mess from my non-modular OCZ is pretty bad.

the 'stack-effect' - due to the hot air climbing upwards through the tower, pressure is reduced in the lower part of the machine, encouraging cool air to flow in through the vents mounted at the bottom of the chassis.
