Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!
Hot air rises, why fight nature, the flow is UP through the case.

i could really use this PSU [COLOR=#000000]

"What way does the air flow in the Raven RV02 chassis"
The theory that 'heat rises' is one of the oldest known to man and it is with this principle that Silverstone have opted for a rotated motherboard mounting system with air being forced from the bottom of the case to the exhaust panels at the top.

The top of chassis is home to the sophisicated ventilation system which works as a giant exhaust port for the internal components

"What way does the air flow in the Raven RV02 chassis"
There are three huge 180mm fans covering the complete bottom of the case from front to back. These work in parallel to ensure a direct upward airflow from bottom to top.

"What way does the air flow in the Raven RV02 chassis"
Three massive 180mm bottom mounted fans are pushing a considerable amount of cold air directly upwards which cools all of the motherboard

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!
Up. And forgive my ignorance, but if the HDD's are mounted as typical (horizontal), won't all the airflow from the HDD section hit the first HDD and scoot around all the others?

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!
Air flows vertically from bottom to top (providing you have the case oriented in the way the manufacturer intended)

SilverStone introduced a new concept on the market: The Silverstone Raven RV02
The Silverstone Raven RV02 is the first case were the motherboard is rotated 90º.The motherboard rotation improves thermal dissipation, especially from the video card, as hot air tends to go up and high-end video cards usually blow hot air from the inside to the outside of the case, usually to the rear of the case, but with the new Raven hot air is blown to the top. This makes the case way more effective then normal other normal cases. |

Three large 180mm fans lie along the bottom of the case, bringing in fresh air past a filter and blowing directly upwards at the hot components. One 120mm fan is used at the top for exhaust, and plenty of ventilation is cut to let the heat escape quickly.

Re: Win a Silverstone Raven RV02 and 600W PSU!
The airflow is upwards, bottom to the top, and can be increased via three enormous 180-mm fans (speed varying between 700 rpm and 1,000 rpm, noise level varying between 18 dBA and 27 dBA, depending on how you set the switch available on the top panel) Each fan is connected to an individual speed controller and they all blow air from the bottom part of the case to the top. Since there is more air being pushed inside the motherboard compartment than being pulled out of it, this case is said to be based on a positive air pressure design.

The air goes from the bottom of the unit to the top, very clever and creative. Thanks
