some feedback on a deal i think please
hello fellow dh addicts,
i found a deal on a mid range barebones with some backbones.it is a 2.8 prescott with a asus p4c800e deluxe rev 2.0 in a generic but nice case with front audio and usb and 1394 and a window and 3 120mm fans with a comp usa 450w psu and a zalman cnps7000u hs/fcombo.dude says that it has never been oced but u know how that goes.i have noticed that these boards are going bare for arround 250.00 to 275.00 on ebay because they are no longer made.best board i ever owned.my question is do you guys feel that 250.00 is a good deal for this setup or is it just fair.i want to be able to make some money on this but dont want to risk a fried board from a private party unless i can make atleast 100.00.please give me some feedback because i really dont know what the market is out there for used stuff other than ebay.and sometimes that can be deceiving and can change from day to day.thx and later edit::by the way this is not my system we are talking about i have a northwood 2.8 and this is a prescott 2.8 |

that looks like a really nice deal actually
3 120mm fans sounds like some nice airflow, nice zalman cooler, that should keep a 2,8 nice and cool, decent level PSU if you can verify that none of the parts are toast, take it

it is a hard one for me right now because funds are tight and hollidays coming up.but i think i am going to risk it and my dad thinks he might want me to use it as a start for a system for him.if i do that then i wont be able to make any extra cash because i already told him what i am giving for it,damn.i cant believe what these boards are going for on ebay.most are used and going like hotcakes at over 200.00.i paid like 150.00 for mine about a year ago with retail box brand new.the prescott is what i am wondering about because you can get them retail for 150.00.later

that's a very good deal, that system new would msot likely cost $400-500, and it seems like quite the system too

hey,
i am supposed to go pick it up tomorrow.i have been watching alot of these boards and cpus on ebay and i am concerned about not being able to make my cash back.one day the same board will sell for 275.00 then the next day for 175.00 and the same type of fluctuation is happening with the cpus.and if you look at the listings they are used, like new,and all that good stuff.there is no reason that i can see for such a big difference in ending prices.i think alot of people just get cought up in a bidding war or something like a gambler addict.i am thinking of maybe just keeping the system and starting a dedicated server for running some games and maybe a small site to sell some things.then posting in some forums, after i see what the rules are ,to try and get some hits on my site.thats a thought but i might not have the skills to do so.later |

Well if you dont happen to do anything with it i can give you $300 plus shipping for it, as long as nothings toast. I now need a new computer and this one looks decent. Let me know either way, thanks.
