Newbie Problem MIDI & Cubase SX

I know there's probably another thread dealing with my problem but i can't seem to find it.
I have loaded a soundfont bank in the kx driver. And I have MIDI playback that works properly. My problem is when I try to change the midi sounds in cubase sx3. I don't get the display that lists all the midi instruments available.

How can I properly set up cubase? I DID read the tutorial on the basic set up, but the problem is not adressed
