SF clipping
first of all - THANK YOU big time to all of you who contributed+built this powerful tool!!!
when played with the kX SF player, i experience a strong 'click' when the sample is over and then another one when i release the note. if i release the note before the sample is over its ok. if i loop the sample and then release it - its ok. apparently the problem is at the end of sample. now i can set the envelope.sustain to 0 and adjust the sample length with envelope.hold but i dont think thats a true solution. i experienced that problem on 2 cards (SB0222 and CT4832) and i wonder if anyone else got the same problem. im using vienna2.3 for editing but i dont think thats the problem cause i experience the clicks in cakewalk playing with kX SF player too. forgive me if this was discussed before - i browsed nearly entire forum but havent found an answer.

I'm afraid that some loops are not supported correctly.
if you find out the exact conditions when this happens this might help us in our development /Eugene |

it happens in any condition except when looped. everytime the end of sample is played, a loud (probably max amplitude) POP is heard (maybe out is set to max. value thats 65535?) and when note is released another POP is heard (released from max to center value?) im not sure whats the sample value when the note held down and i'll try to find that out.
try this: open vienna, new bank, import user sample (any sample), create instrument, add that sample to the instrument. play any note. i get (lets say the sample is a bass drum) "Booom... POP..." + holding down and its quiet + "POP" immediately when released. it works ok for you?

I had a problem silmillar to this on one soundfont (Grand Piano One) when I upgraded from Win98 to ME using Creative drivers. This was only on certain notes and I fixed it by editing the loop points in Vienna. After contacting the SF supplier (Studio AX) I received an undated SF which didn't have the problem. I don't know whether this helps or not, but if only a small number of samples are involved it might give you a work-around. In my case the loop points on the samples were not at the zero crossing and this produce a distinct pop. By altering the the loop points to the zero crossing the problem disapeared. Steve |

Hello kokoon. I have the same problem and It's driving me NUTS. Not only for the clicks, but also, when I play some sound fonts, the clicks are not only on the end of the sample, but in the middle. And everytime I play a note, the noise appears on different parts of the sample (so It's NOT on the sample).
I use to make my own soundfonts, and the problem is there too. So it's not a malformed soundfont problem. The worst part is, after a while of beeing playing soundfonts, the mouse cursor begins to move slowly. In that case I have to close all the programs I'm running quickly, because if I don't, my PC hangs and I have to press the reset button. I hope this problems are fixed soon. |

it works now with 3533. still i have problems - no matter what i try, i cant select any other soundfont bank than the first (zero'th) one. cubase sx is what i use. any suggestions? i can see in the soundfont panel of kX driver that other soundfonts are loaded too (bank 1, 2, 3 for example) but that doesnt matter when i try to switch bank on midi track in cubase.

there are two ways of setting the bank number -- LSB or MSB
make sure you tried all the possible settings (in Cubase) /E |

This is not a KX related problem. It occurs with Creative drivers as well. Search the net for SX forums. Your problem is discussed there in detail. Afaik up untill SX v1.03 this problem hasn't been fixed. I don't know if there's an SX Update by now. cheers,.... LM |
