exclamation GM compat. FM 'emulator' soundfont demos

For those who like FM / old chiptune style (sb16/commadore/nes/sega/TG16 etc) sounds... this may interest you.
Okay so i thought i'd update this a wee bit. It's only been another year and a half since then, almost 2 years, still working weekly to daily on it! So far so good.
you can mail me here
Send me an EEEEEE!!! male: nocouch/ÄT/hotmail/DÖT/-c-o-m-/
Just make sure you visit my web page with demos first at YouTube - breadrack's Channel (it's under the profile breadrack, thats me, incase the link doesnt work)
You will have to make do with listening to it for now, due to the fact that im changing quite a few things yet instrument-wise (mostly stuff above gm bank such as gs/xg) and i dont want bugs reported that im already working on fixing... once i get these instruments straightened out, and such, i will consider releasing it. As it stands it's 3855kb in KX s/f manager, <4mb.
I cannot release something that is unfinished, the first 'beta' was an absolute disaster! :) much better now though.

Interesting... I would have never guessed SF's can sound so much different between my SBLive and Audigy - I wonder why this is..?? but your right some sounds are massivly 'aliasing' in my A2 - but not so in the SBLive.. although I still get a bit of aliasing with some patches on some keys (not always on HIGH keys either..??)
Well done either way.

I have some old FM emulations I D/L somewhere 'Vintage Dreams' - IIRC there were 2 - another named 'vdw.sf2' (many samples are single cycle waves) and it doesn't have this same difference between BSLive and my A2.

*opinion to follow*
Theres a place for FM - particularly with the ability to change FM synth params in real time.. .but not possible when emulated with a sample based synth. But I have used em before at times, but all in all - to say this bank 'spanks' the GM sound font that came with my card is a bit of an exaggeratedly sales pitch
* end opinion*

But, pretty cool to add to the arsenal of sounds library.
Thanks for it....

In response to maddog -
True, one could view it (my saying it is much better than the GM bank) as an opinion thats overdone itself, as far as being better, but if you listen to what i do, it definately is- i think my opinion is coming from someone who is too biased toward the synth sound... but then again, i always despised that GM pack-in bank from day one, so there you have it. Hope you get some good sound out of it, cause if your not, it's not setup right (trust me, it's got a different sound on every card, and hardly works on an x-fi without dropping notes, go figure!) Just skip creative's drivers and keep your SBlive handy and you'll be fine. If you can suggest how to improve, let me know, i'd love to hear it. I am still working on aliasing, as im limited in the amount of samples im using, it is tough but it's getting better. Thanks

Re: FM 'emulator' soundfont up for grabs, GM compatible

Again if you missed it please see my RC 1 demos on youtube @ YouTube - breadrack's Channel , there are about 60 demos up and i add more weekly. Please comment and rate, if you use KX drivers on your sb-audigy or sb-live then let me know on youtube messaging as i check that more often,or on aim at Shananegin. I will no longer make public posting until development is much closer to release (While it is over 90% done there still is a show-stopping bug here or there).

Re: FM 'emulator' soundfont up for grabs, GM compatible

Yes this project is STILL ALIVE btw, see my user channel @ youtube nickname breadrack [ YouTube - Kanaal van breadrack ] For Soundblaster users!
Current version plays nicely with all the old dos favorites, it was fun playing through a bunch of the games to make sure the music was working (day of the tentacle, especially). If you have some tips or think it's botched one of your songs, i want to hear from you! Improvements are always welcome.
