Kx Synth multiple track recording

Good day....
I have learned how to record the output of the kx synth playing a midi file into an ASIO input in my audio software (FL Studio).
What I would like to be able to do is to record different channels of the midi file into multiple ASIO inputs. Does anyone know how to accomplish this feat? Please and thanks.

Re: Kx Synth multiple track recording

You need to change kX Router.... you will find in the kX router that each MIDI channel for both kX Synth can be configured to use different FXBus. Those FXBus can then be routed in the DSP to what ever kX ASIO input.

Sends A & B are the main (L+R) output, Send C is the reverb send (CC#91) and Send D is the chorus Send (CC#93) - 10K2 cards have additional Sends E-H labeled in kX MIDI Implementation chart as 'General Purpose' (CC#16-19) These 'sends' are mono of course.

I recommend to save the kX Router default config first.

Re: Kx Synth multiple track recording

Ok thanks a lot for your advice. I now have multiple midi recording channels in FL Studio....However what I would really like to do is split up the midi drum tracks into their own ASIO recording channels. However the midi out assigns them all to midi channel 10, and if I change them to annother channel it changes the midi instrument . This does not happen when I change an instrument such as bass to a different channel, it just assigns it to the appropriate ASIO mixer channel inside of FLStudio without changing the midi instrument , perfect!
Now if I could just make midi drums do the same.??? Thanks again.

You have 2 choices - both need to edit the soundfont file assuming Vienna 2.3...
1) Using the 'File - Bank Manager...' Copy one SF files percussion preset into another soundfonts melodic pool

2) Edit the existing SF file (make a backup first ...) the copy/paste the percussion pool patch/preset and past into the melodic pool patch/preset.

Now that drum kit is like any other instrument like a bass, piano - for use on any MIDI channel. I presume you understand MIDI patch/Bank selection methods.

Right on Madddogggggg
Ya I can see it is a real pain in the keester to pull that one off....may as well copy all of the drum tracks separately into FPC and play them thru there. But I do thank you muchly for the help...
and also for the pointers about those mixers and microphones in the other thread. FL Studio has sure come a long way, and I was there when it started. I haven't done any recording for a about 3 years but am getting back into it now. Thanks to this forum, all is good. Peace out.

Yeah, the MIDI support in fruity was pretty crappy back when I played with it... it seemed more 'pattern' oriented... Sonar it is simply to select a single note out of a track and move it to a new track, assign a new midi channel - so its not a huge problem - I normally separate them as well - Snare - Bass Drum - Toms - Cymbals - all on separate tracks.

But since - Ive been using kX synths to compose, then use a VSTi to tweak & render to audio track (faster than real time and better samples/no file size limit).

Can you use VSTi's? - maybe that can help as well..??

Re: Kx Synth multiple track recording

Yes I do use VSTi's... Actually the midi support has improved quite a bit in FL Studio. You can copy each midi drum track and paste them into a VSTi channel or FL's own drum machine FPC. That is what I have allways done, but I thought it might be faster and easier to set up recording like we disscused. I like to take a midi drum track or other instrument and run it through effects and edit the tempo etc. I can then use it for a backup track to make something new and different. Been doing that since Cakewalk. I used to use Cakewalks midi effects and record into another app. VST's are much better these days.

Re: Kx Synth multiple track recording

HoWdY!!
This sounds EXACTLY like what I am trying to do and unable to accomplish ..
I have SB Live! 0220 and a SB Live! 4832 in my system ... I want to use the 4 hardware synths with 16 instrument tracks and record each synth on a different audio track ... I'm using Sonar 7 PE and I can't seem to figure it out!
For each card I added the SRC's on Synth I and Synth II to 2/3 and 4/5 respectively, but ASIO doesn't work in recording for both cards ... do I have to go WDM/KS so I can record from both cards?
Where do I make changes in the kX Router and to what?
If someone could throw together a simple DSP diagram or take a couple pics of what the Router should look like and how I would make this work I'd really appreciate it!
Thankx
