Soundfont Playback out of Tempo

Hello,

I hope You can help me get my Audigy 2ZS more into action..

The problem:
Using "guitar pro 5.2" I try to improve sound by loading soundfonts.
Unfortunately the playback falls partially out of tempo, so that one cannot work with it.
When I choose the "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth", playback is perfect, however with poor sound..

I thought the SF-playback would be much better (saving cpu etc.) than the Microsoft SW Synth?

BTW:
As I am new to MIDI, I thought I ask for some practical newbie-guide to the MIDI-side of kx. (Like Lex's DSP-guide -> THAT ROCKS, THX!!) Explaining kx-Router, fx-routing, Automation examples etc. ?
People like me would really appreciate that!

Thanx for answers!

Re: Soundfont Playback out of SYNC

Sorry I can help with Guitar Pro... I dont have/use it....
If you are useing a SF file > 32 MB, you might want to try one <32 MB to prevent the dynamic caching that may be occuring.
Is it only happening with GP files with a lot of tracks?
Does it happen for all GP files?
Does it happen on files with slower tempos?
Are you certain you tested same GP to compare between kX Synths and the MS Software Synth devices? - This really seems odd to me - the software synth being better...??

Explaining kx-Router, fx-routing, Automation examples etc. ?
kX Router - as explained in the kX Help file - allows us to dictate what audio comes out of what fXbus pin in the DSP - 10k2 cards have 64 FXbus possible while 10K1 cards have only 16. So, by default some are 'shared' - like kX Synths MAIN (SEND A/B) are shared.
kX Synths also have 2 additional sends for Reverb and chorus as per the Soundfont spec - kX Implements these sends with SEND C (reverb) & D (Chorus) in the kX Router to individual FXBus. 10K2 cards have an additional 4 Sends (E-H) that are controlled, like reverb and chours, with MIDI CC (Continuous Controllers) #16-19 called 'General Purpose Sends' - and are not part of any particular spec., just a new feature kX adds that was *almost* added with CL drivers.

Automation is pretty self explanitory if you have a firm grasp on MID in general and have read the Automation section of the kX Help file.
You use kX COntrol MIDI Output to send the MIDI commands that match what you sep up as automation parameters for a DSP plugin - none are configured by default.
Its also very flexible in how it gets used - what I would use it for would likely not be the same as you.

Its like asking for an example of a good girlfriend. One that can only cook meatloaf may be great for someone, but others may get sick of her meatloaf after 2 days. ??
kX is the girlfriend that can cook anything you like - you just need to learn how to cook so you can tell her exactly how to cook what it is you want.

Setting up fXMixer's 'In0Level' to be affected by MIDI CC#0/Channel 1, allows you to, in realtime, using Midi CC#0 on MIDI Channel 1, control the amount of FXBus 0/1 that gets mixed with Reverb and Chorus.

'fx-routing' - that's a pretty general 'non-question' you would need to ask more specific questions - or are you asking about 'FXMix' - or 'XRouting' plugins?
kX Is *very* flexible with what 'fx routing' you can do - its virtually unlimited in how you can do things - limited only to the ammount of DSP resources you have to work with.

Thanks man,

I don't get this 'Send C FxBus Routing'.
Adding a src with FXBus 12/13 I try to apply some Reverb by raising channel 13, but the signal is just the synth-signal with less volume?
As You see, I don't understand the fx-send-bus functionality.
In particular how the midi-fx function compared to wav-fx.

I've been using kx-dsp-only by connecting cables, and left other kx-windows behind so far, technical terms and the huge amount of numbers and figures in midi-language do confuse me, furthermore that pushes my English-knowledge a bit too far..

The out-of-tempo midi-playback is solved for the moment!!!!!
The circumstances turned 180°, when I restarted my system (!) Since then the kx-synth does the better job, and the MS Software Synth sucks. Strange development, but I'm glad about it
Now I can start auditing all those nice SF-packages..

regards
