No MIDI sound
I am not really sure how to set MIDI up. I use a program called Guitar Pro, which is pretty much MIDI song composition. I don't hear anything. I've tried selecting kX Control CT 4832 10k1 [bf00] and all of the other ones in the program. I don't know how to use SoundFont, but I think that'll help me.
By the way, I have 2.1 speakers, 32bit Windows 7 and my model is the 4830. Is it normal that kX manager says my model is 4832? Thank you. |

Re: No MIDI sound
Nevermind, gentlemen. After reading the forum for awhile I finally pieced together how to get it working. I have a suggestion to make. Maybe a moderator should create a locked instructions thread for the non-advanced users. I think the kX project is very cool. Creative not supporting their older cards makes me not want to buy their products anymore. Anyway, thanks.

Re: No MIDI sound
Hi
mr newbie here. sorry for posting here as a reply but i can't figure out how to start a new thread; probably fried my brains trying for 3 weeks to get creative audigy 2 zx platinum sound card to work with it's own drivers! i won't swear again or i won't stop!!! basically i have loaded the kx driver and can't get any midi input showing up. there is a midi slider in the mixer and i have maxed it out. two midi uarts do appear in the track dialogue in my music production software - but alas no midi signal gets through from my hardware keyboard using either uart (midi input port). this is the same problem i had with the old creative driver after i updated the driver. (the midi ports used to work fine!!!!) But before i give up and decide it's a hardware fault, i just need to check with you guys if I needed to configure anything in the Kx driver to get external midi input going??? or if i can configure anything related to midi here. i can't see anything in the router or DSP stuff in KX that is even labelled 'midi'??? anybody know what i should be looking for in router / DSP that even connects to the physical midi ports (in and out). Jeez. I'm fed up with all this crap - I just wanna make some music :-( Cheers for anything guys - i just don't wanna trash the audigy when i feel in my bones there is no hardware fault. Peace, Love and Good Things Ez. |

Re: No MIDI sound
The kX Synth's are used for MIDI playback. You need to load soundfonts in order to hear anything (load the soundfonts from your Creative installation CD, or grab some from the web and load them using the Soundfont page of kxmixer).
kX Control is for MIDI automation (controlling aspects of kX (plugin settings, etc) using MIDI). Use the kX Automation applet to assign MIDI events to plugin controls, etc. kX UART is for external MIDI I/O. I have never used it myself (I do not have any external MIDI devices), but AFAIK, there are no kX settings that should effect that. You might try using a program like MIDI-OX for testing. As for the DSP, only the resulting audio (e.g. from kX Synths) would go through the DSP. See kX Router for the FxBus assignments used by the kX Synths. |
