**Solution at the bottom of the thread. Original post below this line:
__________________________________________________ __________ I have an Audigy 2 Platinum on Win7x64 and cannot get any MIDI playback whatsoever with the KX driver. I've tried over 10 GM sound font packs with the KX driver, varying from 500KB to 150MB and every single one sounds like garbage. Also, I can't control the MIDI output volume so it turns my eardrums into punching bags; there isn't a slider available for Synth output in the KX mixer. With the Creative driver, MIDI playback is just fine, but I get crackling and popping in all audio that I don't get with the KX driver. I'd really like MIDI playback with the KX driver. This would make it all golden. How the BLEEP do I get MIDI playback? ![]() And just to reiterate: Creative sucks at writing their own drivers and KX is a wonderful driver. Not everyone doesn't already know this

Re: Audigy 2 with KX - No MIDI no matter what I try. Argh! Help!
Win7 64bit isn't liking soundfonts, no work around as of yet. Not sure if there will be a fix for this or not.

Re: Audigy 2 with KX - No MIDI no matter what I try. Argh! Help!
OMG OMG OMG OMG BY ACCIDENT I FOUND SOMETHING!!!
I'm flippin' my lid here with joy! Ha!I downloaded what I suppose you could call "slipstreamed" version of a Creative installer CD compiled with different SB audigy drivers and applications. Basically a multi-version support SB Audigy CD installer. Some extra applications and fixes are included, and there there is a SetMIDI program which allows you to pick what device you want to be your MIDI out. This one is different than the others I found though; it allowed me to pick Microsoft MIDI Mapper which was not available in any other setMIDI program I could find. I ran it and had zero expectations and I opened a MIDI file for the hell of it and almost yelled out loud cause I heard actual music. Woohoo! ![]() Booyah! *moves MIDI files back into playlist*However, using any .SF2 files doesn't seem to affect playback at all now, at least for the songs I'm listening to. However, they're not insutrumental they're techno/new era so it might not be the right instruments for the .SF2s that I have. I'm just happy to have MIDI working AND the KX driver! ![]() I've attached the little applet for any others who wish to have MIDI capability with the KX driver on x64. I renamed the .rar file with a .doc extension so I could upload it to the forum. Just take the .doc away and you'll have the .rar with the .exe in it. ![]() *Oh, and here is the source for the SB Audigy installer CD: Soundblaster Audigy Series recompiled / Updated Install Disc / CD (Windows 98 SE - Windows 7) Last edited by Overfocused; Jan 2, 2012 at 01:14 AM.
