??? Strange SF-phenomena

Take a look at this picture.

http://home.tiscali.se/encore/sf_sample.gif

This is a recording of me playing a soundfont; a soundfont exclusively containing mono-samples. (using a SB Live! with the cracked EMU APS-drivers) What I don't understand is why the right channel (the lower) is exactly one sample behind the left channel. Is this a bug in the APS-drivers? Can anyone check if this happens with the kX-drivers as well? I haven't checked what happens with stereosamples.

Now I know this is not an Aps-forum (especially not cracked drivers ) and the reason I ask is actually to improve the kX-drivers. As I understand it, the error must be in the soundfont-part as I have sampled real synthesizers and other equipment without getting this "right-channel-one-sample-behind"-effect.

You might think that this "error" is not much to make a fuzz about, but this is all a matter of sound quality and professional drivers. Also, if you mp3 the output of a soundfont with this behaviour, the material will sound worse than if the left & right channel were sample-accurate - something I've experienced myself - as there is a small difference between left & right channel, which is a harder task for the mp3-encoder.

Could it be a hardware flaw of E-MU's chip and is not fixable? Or is it just a driver bug?

Also, I know that my school-english lacking a little depth, so if I was unclear on any point, please let me know and I'll try to explain better. I also hope you found this post relevant for a possible improvement on the kX-drivers.

Best regards, encore

As i remember this was just a bug in driver (at least in version 1.5) ... Everything that you record has that sample shift... kX has no such...

Great!

Also, thanks for your quick reply.

As soon as the new drivers are available officially, I'll do myself a favour and download 'em.
