Sounfont quality?
Hi,
I recently installed the Kx drivers, and must say that they are way much better in functionality than the Creative drivers. However I have some major (for me) problems. The quality of the sounds is quite different than the creative drivers produce. Not neccessarely a bad thing, it depends on what instrument I play. It is as if some filter had been applied, so I was wondering if there are any filters applied by default or any filters at all that I could have turned on by accident? Also, when playing a soundfont I think I could play more tones at the same time before it started "muting" tones with the Creative drivers than I can with the kx. That could just be my imagination though... I have a SBLive! Platinum card. |

Midi Effects & default DSP settings...
I think the problem is with the kx driver's default DSP settings.
Try reducing volume of the sound just before the Reverb and Chorus DSP block. (I mean minus gain) The chorus effect is stronger than creative's and it makes the sound even louder than what it thought to be. And reverb, too. I dont know what is the exact value which sounds same as creative's. I'm not using Chorus effect DSP block and using 50% reduced reverb. Hope this helps.

Re: Midi Effects & default DSP settings...
Hi
I have the same problem. I don't think that DSP setting are the cause. The sound of soundfonts is "de-phasing" This not happen with drivers 3529. |

Well i understand.
The problem is that "kx control midi in" work like "Kx uart midi in". This make to retrigger the note. Disable kx control midi in |

Well, how do I disable it? Normally when playing I never assign more than one port as midi in, in the MIDI program (Cubase or whatevver i feel like using at the time). Do I still have to disable something, or did you mean that I only have to assign one port (as I do already)?
Thanks |

Found it...seems like Cubase had an extra input setting which both were activated on. Thanks a bunch, it really improved things here!
Now only problem left is to load a sound font larger than 32 megs...why is this loader so much more limitd than creatives? |

Maximum single sample size for SoundFonts may be limited by OS memory settings.
