Same for me. Locks up trying to load soundfonts in Cakewalk Home Studio 2002; takes a long time using KX program.

I'm also using Win 98SE, and a SB Live (hmmm!?). Processor is an AMD 1.2. 384 k of ram.

1. it might depend on the soundfont you are trying to upload
does it happen with -any- soundfont?
2. if there's a crash -- are there any messages? BSOD? reboot?
if the system reboots, make sure you've turned off the "reboot automatically on system crash" option

No reboot, no message: only mouse locked.
A soundfont that make a crash is for example "Sonic Implants Blue Jay Drums" 16.5mb (in bundle whith Sonar)
Other small soundfonts do no make crash.

Very thanks for the interest.

can anyone confirm the problem with the mentioned soundfont?

btw, how much memory do you have?

also, try to run 'kxctrl -sf2 p <your soundfont file name> <any folder name>' in the command line prompt
this should create a folder with all the soundfont information extracted into separate files
make sure that the kxctrl doesn't cause any hang-ups
also watch its output (check if it prints any warnings etc..)

I use that soundfont a lot

Hi Alberto!. I use the sonic implants blue jay drums a lot, without problems... I had problems with my pc, as hangings, because of a memory card reader plugged on the usb port. Do you have something particular installed on your pc?
