kX synth + metronome in cubase 5.1
Hi all!
I have a SBLive! 5.1 value. I am using kX v3536 on WinME. Everything works fine except one thing: When I select kX synth (1 or 2) in the metronome settings, I can't hear anything at all (except maybe a very low rimshot note every 16 hours or so). I don't know if the problem comes from the driver or from cubase: with a midi track on channel 10 / kX synth, the drums seem to work without a problem. I've searched the forum and found a few messages from people having the same kind of problems with SX but they were able to solve it by loading a soundfont or something. I tried to load all the soundfonts on my SBLive! CD with no luck... If somebody could help me out, I would be very grateful!! pol |

hi,
metronome doesn't work at the moment in vst5.1, but it works for me in sx2. I read that Eugene plans to fix it in the future. my workaround (using a GM bank): create a drum.arr file, create a channel 10 midi track, create parts with clics corresponding to signatures you need (4/4, 3/4, 7/8). Import this file in your .all file take mine if you want : drumclics |

I've had this prob as well in VST 5.1. The midi metronome barely works - only the occasional click. The wave metronome works fine, but I'm not too keen on the sound of it. I'm not certain, but I think the midi metronome uses extremely short notes, which maybe don't properly trigger note-ons in the driver. Something to try is lower the PPQN (midi tick rate?) value, which might give a longer minimum note length (without noticeably affecting the midi timing).
I find the midi playback tends to be badly out of sync with wave (ASIO) playback in Cubase, and the latency (midi-wave, not ASIO buffering) varies significantly. Recording midi keyboard to the wave metronome (or existing midi or wave tracks) results in notes that start before the existing notes... Matt. |

Matt: I will give it a shot tonight, thanks for the tip
fvi: I'm not sure what you mean by importing the .arr into my .all: I downloaded your file and double-clicked on it which "imported" it into my cubase session without any noticeable change to the metronome behaviour. Is there something else I must do in order to enable it [sorry if it sounds dumb, I'm a relative newbie :-) ] thx, pol |

pol56 : cubase metronome doesn't work (3536 and earlier). My trick is just a way to create easily your "own metronome" by importing predefined drum parts with clicks in it.

Oh, that kind of workaround!!
I thought there was some subtlety that I had missed...
Anyway, I went to the store and bought myself another soundcard. This is yet another sort of workaround :-) Thanks again Pol |
