> Hmm,... Which SX version?
That's 2.0.2

>What do you mean? Does kX mixer only crash when you use kXSFi?
In general kXMixer crashes sometimes when I load different setings. I load it always from DSP window. But my all setings contain complete data except soundfont information. I remember it crashed one or more times also when I tried kXSFi with CSX. I'll test it more to be sure.

>What kX driver version do you use?
That's 3537final with UFX. UFX is used with all setings.

Hmm,...That is all very strange, especialy those kxmixer crashes.
Judging from your information this is not directly kXSFi related.
If kxmixer crashes during DSP loading, there is definitly something else wrong.

This time works good. But still from time to time get erros loading setups like these:
www.gdynia.mm.pl/~MMmaster/error1.jpg
www.gdynia.mm.pl/~MMmaster/error2.jpg

But I guess, it's another problem and has nothing to your great plugin.

If this is what you get when (re)loading a DSP setup,
it looks like some DSP plugins version incompatibility,
wrong GUID's or corrupted kX installation.
Best way to check this, is by resetting all kx stuff, (or re-install)
and try load some test DSP setup using only the 'standard' 3537 plugins.
Then load/reload to see if the crashes also occurs.

After kXMixer crash I always get info: system waits for "kX Remote" application ending when I try to restart or shoutdown windows. Application never ends, in fact and hard reset is required.

kXMixer and Cubase crash always when VSTi works abnormally. BTW, FLStudio is more resistible for this kind errors. Specially information about VST problem is just displayed and VST reload is enough.

After Cubase crashing, its next start is impossible without system reset. Cubase's initiation hangs on "MIDI resources".

A think it's a kind of kX Automation bug. I decided to use kX automation with my setups and problem appeared with it.

Do anybody realy use kX Automation except me?

Why would you use this VSTi? Sonar's internal soundfont loader works great!
I use the sfz Soundfont player in Sonar 4 and Acid Pro 4.0f myself because it can load Soundfonts by streaming them directly from disk thus bypassing any size limitations. I also prefer using a VSTi to play Soundfonts because I can then process the sound as audio and add any effects I want This means I can slightly compress drum Soundfonts and make them louder

http://www.rgcaudio.com/sfz.htm

Font! 1.2 is another VSTi SoundFont player I use occasionally:

Yes, I know sfz. It's realy very good. And you're right using it is more comfortable.

But, try to think about hardware synths like real analog instruments pluged to your line-ins. Try to imagine how musicians worked some years before, without VST. They thought about making music, not about compression, plugins etc.

It just excites me.

yes, this happens sometimes. however, you should be able to click 'end task' successfully

there are several incompatible DSP effects present in your system
uninstall the drivers and re-install them

Working with kXSFi multicards version, Synth2 wotks only with bank 0. I've found that because I use my second card only for midi and Synth2 is routed to FXBus4/5. After loading sf to kXSFi I love to choose Synth2 instead kXSFi to route sound through FXBus4/5 to to filter controlled by any free CC. That's very good solution but works only with bank 0 :/

I'll have a look at the Multi card support.
However, since user interest towards hardware SoundFont support is very low,
it won't be a priority.

So, I've found more. Synth2 works only with bank 0 and first preset from it.
In general, I guess a synth selection before sf loading will be veeeery useful, alike a card selection is now.

LeMury, is it a lot of work, please?
I've read about your new MX6. It looks great. I'm also very happy about that. And I realize you are working on it now. But please, do not close kXSFi project yet.

Before I can test/debug kXSFi multi-card stuff I firts have to reinstall a second card
which currently kinda conflicts with my other (also not kX related) projects.

Yes, you could test the MX6 automation for me if you like.

Don't worry I won't.
It's just that I've spent to much time on the 'SoundFont attack issue'
whitout solving it entirely and the small user interest in soundfonts in general
which makes proper sf support a low priority.

Of course, I understand.

Necessarily! I will. I love kX's automation in fact.

Super, I'm easy now

Sure, the 'SoundFont attack is also very important point.

Thanx for answer, LeMury.

kxsfi - thanks a bunch!

I`ve downloaded the new kxsfi - it works fine on my system.
I know that soundfonts are a low priority - but this loader will help no end.
Thanks to everyone involved in the kx project, cos without ya I'd have binned my APS card.

Use KxSFi - special VSTi plugin/sf manager for kX drivers with Cubase.

You should not have done all that..! Those actions are obsolete!
kXSFi is standard included and installed by kX driver version 3537 and higer.

Sad Using KsSFi in Cubase SE template

I created a template with the output routed to the KxSFi VSTi, but when I create a new project using it, Cubase just crashes and dissappears immediately!!

Basically I want to avoid loading the soundfonts within KxSFi each time Cubase is opened - eventually I want other users (students at my school) to be able to log on and just get going straight away without having to load anything (they can't do that as they have restricted access and can't access the C drive anyway).

(using kx 3537)

I don't have SE at my disposal, so I can't test/confirm your report.
(anyone else?)
Store/restore KXSFi from template in Cubase SX seems to work fine here
although I don't have multiple accounts to test.

I don't know if SE exhibits the same 'Soundfont Preset Name' issue as SX.
If not, you'd be better of using 'standard' kX Sounfont loader instead.

Any news on this? And, do you plan to add support for BOTH kxsynths? Since its stupid to have a full sampleplayback engine leaving unused http://www.hardwareheaven.com/images/s...big%20grin.gif

I would say it's "stupid" to think that there are "..2 full sampleplayback engines.." to start with.

Using 1 kxsynth does *not* mean you use only 'half' of polyphonie and/or 'half' of available sample memory.

Vica versa, using 2 kxsynths does not double polyphonie nor available sample memory.

Wait.... having 2 seperate synths DOES increase how many unique patches accessed at 1 time - 16 Midi channels X 2 ... or is this also not true?

Yes, that´s right - but i thougth that Synth1 & 2 are independet Synths/Engines, each with its own (64 Voice?) polyphony...
