Random pops when playing/recording SF

Hi everyone!
This issue seems not to be specifically a KX driver bug because also tried different Creative drivers. In fact, I got random pops using Livesynth too (but less).
But when recording or mixing audio files, I don´t hear any pop or glitch, even mixing with Cubase 2 @ 10 ms in both ASIO & DX mode, no matter what samplerate I use (44.1 and 48k works ok).
Hear this samples done with Sonar 3 in WDM mode @ 30 ms (Downtown song from 'Sample content' folder, Rhodes track):
http://www.abaco-rock.com.ar/samples.htm

Piano1: Steinway Grand Piano 1.2 SF2 loaded on Bank 1
Piano2: 8MBGMSFX SF2 loaded on Bank 0

(Note: this issue could happen with any instrument and any SF)

Here´s the list of what I´ve did trying to solve this issue:

- clean XP+SP1 install in Standard Mode, ACPI, APIC (tried Win98 SE also, same problems)
- nForce2 drivers from versions 2.03 to lastest 3.13
- nForce2 SW IDE driver and MS XP default ones (ITB)
- nVidia VGA drivers from versions 28.xx to 56.xx
- Creative drivers from LW3 (WDM 35xx series) to current 383 ones
- KX drivers since 3508 (betas and release candidates also)
- loaded SF from different HD, playback and recording from different HD too
- some post SP1 patches
- benchmarking and stability test shows that my computer is running fine
- lots of tweaks from some forums (this, nforcersHQ, etc)
- MSI´s K7N2 Delta L BIOS since v5.2 to current v5.7 (and some unofficial too)
- placed my SB Live in different PCI slots (current is #3)
- onboard audio & lan disabled
- USB devices disconnected
- 2 different pair of speakers/amplifiers (AKAI AA-1030 amp with standard 2 way speakers, Samson Resolv 65A active studio monitors)
- different AC grounding
- different case coolers, northbridge coolers, etc.
- 2 PSU´s (a Codegen 250W wich came with my case, quickly replaced with an Antec TruePower 430)
- different PCI latencies (with aid of Powerstrip, I can´t set it in BIOS)

An interesting note is that a friend, who bougth the same computer like mine, seems to doesn´t have this issue but he has a SB0100 model (SB Live Value, 2nd generation), while mine is CT4620 (original SB Live with I/O daughterboard). So, I´m going to install my soundcard in his computer and try to do a MIDI/SF recording.

If someone have any ideas to solve this issue, please reply o PM me.

Kyle

sounds like a buffer problem… test with higher ASIO latencies to be sure
other than that… download a new sf bank (it may be corrupted or something) and run spyware/adware scans incase of those little resource hoggers running on your system

I think it may be related to:

- DDR memory and/or nForce2 memory drivers
- Live's famous PCI bus hog
- nForce2 PCI efficiency

I used this card with a P3 800 + Asus CUBX (Intel 440bx chipset) and never had any problem using Creative or KX drivers. So, it's not a KX issue!
