The main way to get higher sound quality in a sample is to sample a longer bit of sound - if you have a 5-second sample of a piano note, it'll sound better than just sampling the first quarter second of attack and then looping the "tail" over and over again... Of course, this requires BIG soundfonts...

I did not mean the quality as you say - I mean the original digital data of the sample, how can you "disassemble" the samples from sound fonts and see their quality in say.....a wave editor ?

Did you ever heard of SoundFont Editors ????? Anyway; Creative's 'Vienna' is one you can use to examine the soundfonts samples etc. etc. /LeMury |

what about non-creative ? anything comes to mind ? (I just don't feel good with the name "Creative" in a name of a digital audio program) |

If you never try a program then you really have no basis to put it down. Vienna is a great soundfont editor. If you don't want to use that, then you can use Alive soundfont editor, or you can use Awave. But keep in mind that creative does have better knowlege of soundfont technology then these mentioned so their editor is more sound for working with.

A note.. The alternatives that I'd mentioned aren't free ones. Nore are they open source.
