midi keyboard manager

hi and thank for your help

i installed the kxdriver for an audigy platinum ex 2 and they works fine.

but my problem is:
i have a midikeyboard controller and i can't simply use the soundfonts as i did when i used the "creative
soundfont bank manager",i mean in standalone. With kxdriver i have no sounds when i play with the keyboard.
maybe my question is so simple i can't find a solution in the "help" files.

How should i configurate the mixer and midi setting to get a link between my midikeyboard and the kx soundfont manager?

thanks

>>>...i mean in standalone...

kX does not come with such an applet since most users will use
a sequencer wich takes care of midi routing.

Simply get/use MIDI OX to route your MidiIn->kXSynth.
It's a well known free program.
Don't forget to load some soundfonts first.

Oh Wow!

LeMury:

Thanks for that info man! This is another good peice of info. It's possible to play soundfonts just as we did with the Creatie standalone keyboard! Man this is stuff that could be placed in documetation. Just like the Creative cards come with documentation of how to do this and other things, so can the KX Project have documentation covering this neat stuff!

There's probably a whole host of great things that can be done (using this audio driver) embeded throughout the sections and many threads of the kX Project Audio Driver Support Forum, but it will take extensive reading to find, and the world may never know (just like it's unknown about how many licks does it take to get to the center of a toosie roll lolipop). Remember that old comercial? Well, it was a U.S. comercial.

Anyway, thanks for sharing this info involving the MIDI OX.

Sincerely, thomasabarnes

No I don't think so.
This is all realy very..very basic general Computer->Midi knowledge not bound to kX in particulair.

May I beg to differ?

I know the MIDI OX is not by KX, but being able to play a MIDI Keyboard stand alone when using it, is a good thing, and I think it's a good idea to dcoument it so others can know!

Anyway, I still hold you in high esteem, LeMury.

Moreover, I'm just glad to be here hehe.

BTW, I'm stll hoping for your part 2 to the ProFX documentation. Just a reminder LOL.

Sincerely, thomasabarnes

IIRC, I put an ? sign behind "...to be continued..".
So I was under the impression that there was not much interrest for a "part2".

more question

hi
thaks again for the midi ox advice.
works fine.

i have a question for anyone using that to play in standalone with a keyboard:

i have some sf2 files containing several different instrument(banks sf2).when i load those
files i'm only able to play the first instrument of the bank.i can't see any device allowing me to choose
and play the others. in the "creative soundfont manager" there was automatically a little screen appearing
and showing the name of all the sound contained by the bank.
anyone got the solution.it's annoying to have some sf2 including sounds who rules and be allowed to
play only one of them!

i hope my question is more clear than my english
thanks if you have an answer

ok this sounds life different midi channels per bank
in this case use the kX router to send each synth channel in use to a different (unused) fxbus routing
then in the DSP connect these to the relevant ASIO ins

But ofcourse! You have to send bankselect & preset midi messages first..!

To access different SF presets & banks;
Just use OX's control panel (or your midi-keyboard) to send
'Midi Bank Change' and 'Midi Patch Change' messages to kXSynth.

/LeMury

PS;
This has nothing to do with dsp/asio routing stuff.

MIDI Keyboard Standalone Guide

OK DJ_Stick:

I put together a short guide on how to play soundfonts using MIDI OX and the KX Porject Audio Driver. The guide is in MS Word format and 155kb in size with pics.

If another format is desired, let me know and I'll try to get it in that format. I would have placed it in .pdf format, but I'm unable to do that at this time.

Thx for pressuring me into writing this simple guide LOL, it was fun. Where can I upload it?

Cya around

Sincerely, thomasabarnes

If anyone else doesnt know where to begin for playing their soundfonts in the Creative Keyboard fashion, but to do it using the KX Project Audio Driver, you may want to take a look at this short article:

http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/Sta...I-Keyboard.pdf

However, after reading this thread, there may not be a need. Yet, see the KX Knowledge Base (http://kb.kxproject.lugosoft.com/ for KX Project related help and enlightenment) for any adventurous curiousity that may arise in the future.

Sinncerely, thomasabarnes
