MIDI troubles
I installed the KX-Drivers after I changed the PCI-Slot my SB-Live was in and saw that windows wanted me to reinstall the creative drivers. I am pretty sure [99% or so] I have followed all the instructions for installing them but my MIDI playback and recording from the MIDI port does not work. Wave and such work fine, just not MIDI. It all worked fine before I installed the KX drivers.
I get about a second of what sound like the MIDI background music in Sonic 3K when I quit but that is all. The only thing I can think of after looking through this forum, the main kX-site and some Internet searches is that perhaps moving my card to the other PCI slot caused a conflict of some sort but the device manager does not show one and the card's adjacent slots are empty. I don't know if the MIDI worked with the default windows drivers after moving the card as I didn't test and just went through the install [and un-install] processes for kX. Relevant Specs: SB live!5.1 [SB0060] no live drive or anything the GeneralUser GS 1.35 soundfont loaded. the kX Synth2 selected as the windows default for playback and in my Aranging software such as Noteworthy Composer and Presto Arrange-o. 700MHz Celeron, 384MB RAM and Windows XP Any thoughts? |

Hi!
XP tries to install own drivers if it detects a Live! card - so it´s absolutely necessary that you uninstall all creative stuff again completely (use driver cleaner from DriverHeaven Top-Forum) and then install kX again. If no success, start XP in safe-mode and repeat the procedure. Be sure, that only kX is running on your system (check system information and multimedia properties). |
