MadMonkey is on a distinguished road

??? Fluid Soundfont

Is it normal if it takes an incredible ammount of time when I load the Fluid soundfont? The kX mixer freezes for about 3 minutes. After that it works fine after, though. Is there a way to speed up the process?

Thanks!

You probably need more memory. That's 145 megs of sound fonts. I have 512 megs of memory and I use Fluid sometimes, it loads in about 4-7 seconds depending on who knows. Seems it loads faster the second time around if I switch banks.

Just in case;
Don't use sfark compressed soundfonts directly.
Although kX's sf loader can extract them on the fly, it takes 'forever'.

Hi MadMonkey!

If you use winŽ98, then your issue depends on the old OS, try to update, since 2000 or XP OSses have a better handling related to your problem.

That's a fact I can attest to. I switched from Win98se to Win2k while I still had my old Celeron PC and sound font loading improved dramatically, and so did the overall sound quality.
