splitting sf file
Hi
I'm looking for sf application that hepls me to split automaticely whole sf bank to separate files with one preset inside only. I remember MegaFont could make it but doesn't work with kx. Do you know something else? PITmaster |

Try FMJSoft Awave Studio. It allows to save a single instrument as a soundfont from soundfonts having multiple instruments and banks. Maybe this is what youre looking for.
For instance, Sonic Implants has a soundfont named Blujay drums. It has many drum kits in one soundfont. Well, with Awave Studio, you can load this .sf2 and save each kit as a separate soundfont. Is something like this what youre looking to do? http://www.fmjsoft.com/ |

What do you mean, it doesnt sound with kX's synth. Version 9.2 is the latest. I used it 2 days ago. It auditions soundfonts well for me. I was using it with 3537 installed, but I see no reason why it wont work with 3538x.

Sorry, I was thinking about ALive! software.
BTW, there is also a function to export any preset as soundfont file. I guess FMJSoft Awave Studio software has similar function. But I need to split very quick whole gm bank, not only to extract one or two instruments. PITmaster |

Yes, soon as u load a soundfont you can split by using the tree like setup on the left, and save as a soundfont or to a number of formats such as DR-008, Giga, LM4, AKAI and many others as well as .sf2. See the Help file for a full list!
![]() Dont know if you know but preset=instrument. And saving presets to .sf2 is very quick and easy to do. After loading a soundfont, on the left side in program is a tree like area. The soundfont will already be split into instruments. Just right click the one you want to save and select "Save selected instrument as" then, select the format you want to save as .sf2, .gig or whatever and youre done. It's a peice of cake to do this in Awave Studio.

So I've got Awave Studio.
And it's very good soft, indeed. Though, when I need to save all instruments as separate files, I have to hit ENTER 128 or more times :/ PITmaster |

LOL No man you dont have to press enter 128 times! You need to do a batch conversion.
![]() In Awave Studio go to tools on the Toolbar and select the batch conversion Wizard. Following the wizard instructions, you can save all instruments in a soundfont to separate soundfonts per instrument (a GM soundfont to 128 separate instruments, for example). Awave is a nice app!

Hi,
wouldn't it be easier if it was possible to load only single instruments from a huge soundfont file? Will this be possible with the kx soundfont manager one day? jakewalk |
