Workaround for the UART buffering issue
I had been searching this forum for a solution to a problem using a MIDI connection from my Line 6 amp to my SBLive to run a patch manager program. It gave a buffer error every time it did a bulk dump, and the only post of a similiar problem said that the problem hasn't fixed in the drivers yet and that was in 2003. After messing with it, I found that by changing the kx game port driver in device manager to the Creative game port driver (not the Creative live), I fixed the problem. Oddly enough I had to reverse my Midi in and out settings to use the Control for the input and the Uart for the output, but now it works perfect! I figured there might be other people having this problem, so let me know if it helps anyone else.

I do not have any problems with dump-files recorded and played back with MIDI-OX, but I have problems with CubaseSX, so I think itīs a bug of Cubase itself, recording the SysEx works, playback sucks. Have tested this with another computer with MIDI-OX running, Cubase stops the transmission after 256 bytes. Donīt know why.

Midiox
If you notice, in MIDIOX , you can control your own buffer sizes. The problem seems to come from programs that don't allow you to adjust the buffers. Try what I did and see if it makes a difference. I would be willing to bet it will fix it. Don't forget to reverse your MIDI output and input if it don't work the first time.

How to change the port
Not sure what OS you are using, but on Win XP, you right click on "My Computer" and select properties. Go the the Hardware tab and select "Device Manager". Under the "Sound Video and Game Controllers" header it will say something like Kx Game controller. Go to the properties for that and hit update driver under the Driver tab. If it ask you if you want to go online to find the best driver, select NO. then on the next screen select the option "Install from a specific location", and after that select "I will choose which driver to install". It will then give you a list of compatable drivers. Select "Creative Game Port". I'm using a SBLive, and it gave me the option for a SBLive gameport, but you have to select the "Creative Game Port" instead. After I did that, I went back to the MIDI app I was using, and for some reason had to reverse the input and output ports to use the kx control for input and the UART for output (before it wouldn't even recognize my MIDI amp set up that way) but then everything worked perfect. I know it sounds crazy, but the gameport driver must have some sort of control over the buffer sizes and for some reason the generic creative driver works better.
