SB Audigy player.
Windows ME 356MB Ram AMD Duron 1.1ghz. Evolution MK149 Keyboard. VIA 4 in 1 Chipset (up to date drivers). I have installed the kx driver (3526) to try and overcome a problem with Magix Music Studio 2003 deluxe, the error involved the hardwarematically set sample rate of 48000. (As part of this I had to install and unistall a demo of Cubase VST.) This did solve the problem but now I get no midi output at all. The problem exist in all software including prev fully functional software so it is not exclusive to the magix software and must be related to the driver. Midi input is working fine and registers, notes record to the score but I get no sounds from the on-card synth. I have tried each of the possible synths in the kx mixer and none work. Any ideas? |

No sound from on-board synthesizer
In order to get sound from on-board synth you should upload an soundfont bank to it first using "kX SoundFont" (there's no bank loaded by default).
You can find general midi soundfont bank in the system folder of your windows...

Thanks Max. I get midi sounds now.
But when I start to play or records I get a pop just afterwards, does anyone know how to eliminate this? |

I had the same thing using the 2 meg GM soundfont, probably leftover from the creative drivers.... no artifacts using the 8 meg APS soundfont though (leftover from previous APS 1.84 install)
+ they sound better

Help!
I am trying to use MS Studio 2003 still, it worked for a couple of minutes and apart from the popping described in my previous post was OK. Next time I went to open it I got an error message saying Midistudiodlx has caused an error on ASIODXFD.DLL. It simply wont even open now. I was so near and yet so far, can anybody help?

I fixed it myself, appears creative drivers not properly replaced or they reboot on startup?
Anyway, deleted the remaining creative files and back into MS Studio now. I 'm still getting those annoying pops during recording though. I have tried updating bios/drivers etc, increased latency settings as far as I can, though I feel they are still too low at 17.07ms, would rather use 25-40ms. Anyway of getting updated settings for kx driver? |

>ASIODXFD.DLL
btw. Did you select "kX ASIO" or use DirectSound asio wrapper? >Anyway of getting updated settings for kx driver? if you mean changing "kX ASIO" latency then you can set it via control panel should be accessable from ASIO host. I don't know if Magix Music have an option of launching of that panel though... --- btw. and let's do not mix different topics in the same thread... There's special "ASIO" node in this forum... It could be very friendly for one reading forum later If you'd start ASIO relaited thread there...
