exclamation Help with soundfonts please?

[color=black] I am new to soundfonts and I installed the KX drivers for my SB live card last night. After a few hours of tinkering i was able to get soundfonts working, but with loits of problems. Prior to this i just used the default SB midi and have written a lot of songs in that. I was able to convert the old midi and play it through with soundfonts, but it took a lot of toying and I never got it to work correctly. How should i load soundfonts? also is there a way in Cakewalk (I use sonar producer edition 4.0) to show the sound names listed instead of just seeing like "Acoustic Grand Piano" under patches when it's really Synth Pad 1 or something? Sorry this isn't explained very well.. but if anyone understands what I'm asking can you please help? Thanks

In sonar - options/instruments....
Assign the KX synths 1& 2 (all channels 1-16) to - soundfont device
Note: theres a bug in CL drivers as well as KX (its prolly Sonars bug tho) that KX synth 2 looses the assignment as a soundfont device - and sonar may not show patch names until the KX synth 2 is re-assigned as a soundfont device.

Then - load soundfonts in the sonars soundfont dialog... this way, for each song that you load - will load the soundfonts needed for that song . In otherwords - the sonar soundfonts dialog is 'PROJECT' specific - and each project can have a different soundfonts loaded into what ever banks.

I keep the GM sound font loaded into bank 0 from KX applet only. As sonar wont load bank 0 soundfonts.

BUT soundfonts loaded in with the KX applet WILL show proper patch names and banks in sonar, if you prefer a GLOBAL soundfont setup.

I like having them load in for each project - BUT - if you move the sound fonts to a different folder - you have to re-assign all the projects soundfont as sonar wont be able to find them.

Also in sonar - I have to assign a BANK 0 - by typing '0' in the tracks bank selector - instead of using a popout - which doesnt show bank 0 - just all other banks that have soundfonts loaded. This is not intuitive behaviour and had me scratch my head for some time.
