need a clue with kx automation !
I just bought myself this really neat midiman oxygen 8 thingy. It's working flawlessly in reaktor, fruity, logic (well there's some things I still need to figure in logic). anyway.
Problem is, i'd like to assign those knobs to the volume plugins in my dsp window. I've tried many times with different knobs double and triple checking the channel and controller numbers. I can't seem to move anything in the DSP with my beloved knobs ! the documentation says : "The parameters are then controlable from any MIDI capable program through the kX Control MIDI port or via kXi VST instrument. " What does this mean exactely ? Do i need to run a midi capable software to use a knob to control a volume in the DSP ? if so, how ? i'm really new to MIDI, any help apreciated. by the way those kx drivers are awesome. |

I've got exactly the same problem :
I tried to launch kxi as a VSTi in Cubase SX, but i don't understand how it works, and how it can works because kxi doesn't produce any sound. ![]() I also tried to control the kxi with a generic remote ( I own a evolution MK-225C ) without succes... So, please Can you tell us the steps to do it ? |

The kxi 'plugin' doesn't produce any sound but is marely an interface to the MIDI control of the plugins that are loaded in the DSP window.
This can also done by selecting the kX Control MIDI port as MIDI output. In the DSP window you will need to asign a MIDI event (like a controller number) to the different functions in the plugin. The value is then changed by sending that MIDI event type to the kX Control. The MIDI event can be pitchbend, cont. controller or noteon/off messages. If you have an external controller you need to find out what controller values the device sends and assign those in the DSP. If you don't have a MIDI sequencer program running (to send MIDI in to kX Control) you can use a program like MIDI Yoke / MIDI Ox. HTH Soeren |

thanks for the answer. Looks like I need to catch-up a lot understanding the workings of MIDI. I'll try installing Midi-ox/yoke and see if i can get this to work.

Problem solved !
I installed MIDIOX, a very good program, not too hard to understand. Didn't feel the need for MIDI yoke right now, but i may give it a try later. I think saving and reloading the settings of kx may help sometimes. thanks again ! |

Another question...
Is there any way of saving the automation settings, or I must re-configure them each time I reboot or load a settings file ? |

unfortunately, this part of kX VSTi hasn't been written yet.
we will try to implement it in 3530 release /Eugene |
