Do we need 1080p?

In the past, I've given a more complete rundown of the pros and cons of 1080p, what it is, and how it fits into the grander scheme of HD resolutions. Recently HD quality has been referred here to as:

720p = HD
1080p = True HD

we don't consider anything interlaced HD though because quite often, it doesn't looke any better then it's lower Progressive counterpart.

Anything higher then 1080p that's progressive has been referred to as Ultra HD. (2560x1600 as an example)

Do we need it, no, do we want it, somewhat, is there a difference, Most Definitely, even for those that initially are exceptionally skeptical.

My father for example has a eye and skin related medical issue which his own vision deffinition if you will, not to mention FOV is utterly fallen apart. However apon showing him a Standard tv resolution format vs a 1080p lcd tv format, he notices MANY differences and likes what it could provide for him.

And trust me, he's the type that doesn't even want a CD play let alone a DVD player to start with (hates advances in technology as it usually means all his other stuff is now officially junked)
