ATI soon to fail WHQL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like the usual drama queen Inquirer article, but
apparently there is some fire in all this smoke, as it has garnered an official response from ATI... Quote:

uh?..
ATI has failed WHQL afew times.... and one being the unreleased cat 3.5's? (which ever didn't show up and was skipped) if it fails.... they won't release it..they'll continue on with the next set OR they'll release it as a beta... zero support

you guys are funny. if this had been about nvidia......
i actually think this is one of the more believable, well written articles from inq(does not happen too often). no bashing, good points & explanations. do not think it is as big as a downside for ati as they make out. ati has been an oem supplier forever & knows how to work the system. i think the only people it will really affect is the non enthusiast who buys a pre-built with one of those cards & does not know how to change settings. then again he/she probably wont know what they are missing. ps. without knowing specifics or having any exp i would guess that the difference in performance is very subtle.

ATI's future drivers all "leaks"
Quote:
going on between ATI and nVidia atm for the bragging rights and crown of "Most Powerful VPU in the World", and of course for your dollars, the lack of an advanced feature (which can only be turned on, and even then only emulated after it has been released into the mainstream) seems to suggest that slowly...ATI is losing at least a bit of it's claim to the throne. (nvidia has "partial" support of PS 3.0...which could possibly be full support with the current cards if....) If nVidia was still trying to get the FX series off the ground, or maybe out of the ground, this wouldn't even be an issue really. That's the point I made about Inquirer being the usual drama queen. Still...that is kinda bad. With the X800 and X800XT already hard to come by, due to low supply and (dwindling?) demand, the need to circumvent the O/S is just another black eye, in what is maybe the bloodiest fight in the history of PC hardware. Well...maybe not quite AMD vs. Intel...but... ![]() In the end, I'm having a bit of fun watching this cat fight.

neon
what does that have to do with this article?
i did not read the article you are referring too, but given your hatred of all things nvidia i'll take some of your 'truckload of salt' with that.

that is pretty much what i got from it too. bottom line - the more they(ati/nvidia) fight, the better of we are.
