No SP2 Auto Update for 8 months
Well, the headline should read the ability to disable delivery of Service Pack 2 will be available for 240 days starting August 16th (last month)! You read that right, 8 months! After that you get the hot SP2 injection, whether you like it or not. Thanks to Sean Terrill for the linkage.
Please note that the mechanism to temporarily disable delivery of Windows XP SP2 will be available for a period of 240 days (8 months) from August 16. At the end of this period, Windows XP SP2 will be delivered to all Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1 systems. Source: [H]ard|OCP

Since you're talking about Windows Updates, I just want to say that I TOTALLY abhor the fact that you MUST have AUTO UPDATES ENABLED to even see what updates there are.
I utterly detest having anything done automatically to my computer. Fortunately, there are ways to get the updates without using the Updates page.
