Apple wants 10% of iPod accessory revenue

Steve Jobs is moving one step closer to religious entity with the new requirement by Apple for a tithe of all revenues from manufacturing iPod port-pluggable accessories. Currently the license fee sits between 1 and 2%, and the bump to 10% might see some accessory makers closing down their iPod lines.

Ah, once again Apple eats its own young and relegates itself to the has-been bin. To be honest I'm amazed they haven't crippled the iPod line already, usually by now they'd have specialised the h/w so much and charged such a ridiculous price that they'd be relegated to a small niche.

iPod has street cred, but the Asian generics are smart...they already make most of the components, its just a matter of time till the build it bigger, better, stronger.

PS Not an Apple fan.

the other thing: most other players(Creative, iRiver, Samsung, hell, even Sandisk) come with twice the features of the iPod, meanign they dotn NEED al those "accessories"

example: my iRiver came with: Case, FM Tuner, Recorder, Wall Adapter

iPod...thsoe are all about $30 each
