Windows 7
I have to say after fiddling with the Pre-Beta people are going to be really impressed with this release to say the least. Most of the current drivers available for Vista 32 and x64 work on windows 7 without any issues which doesn't surprise me. Also Nod32 v3 and v4 Beta is currently compatible with it as well along with numerous other software.

Re: Windows 7
I've been keeping an eye on Windows 7. It sure would have been nice if MS would have had the cajones to make it 64 bit only though. It's time to put 32 bit OS's out to pasture. With the current hardware, and the availibility of cheap RAM allowing the average person to use 4GB or more of RAM, the only thing a 32 bit OS does is cripple the system.
There has been some discussion about 7 on the HyperOS support forum. It looks like MS changed the boot environment again, like they did from XP to Vista, so 7 is going to be incompatabile with the current HOS version ![]() Looks like I'm going to be beta testing another HOS version in the semi-near future. Probably after they release the beta to the general public.

Re: Windows 7
Well I am currently using the latest available build of Windows 7 Ultimate through Windows update. They have really added some nice features and I must say it is going to be a worth while investment unlike Vista. Microsoft could ship this to stores tomorrow if they really wanted to and yes it's that damn good in it's current state.

Re: Windows 7

still very Vistaish looking, but from what everybody is saying, that is to be expected. i guess i'm skipping out on the whole vista thing whenever i put together my next build, lol |

Re: Windows 7
They have also revamped Paint and it's very nice to use now. They have also redone Windows firewall and made it much easier to use as well and added many options that were lacking in Vista as far as configuration is concerned.
They have also included a solution center which is great when you encounter problems, it lets you know what is causing it and how to fix it. I'm really excited about this OS. And don't let Microsoft fool you because at Windows 7 current state I'd say it's about 90% ready for the market! Shaga, It's the latest Pre-beta build as of Nov 11th from Microsoft update. I don't have a build number available atm. Last edited by |2A|N; Nov 27, 2008 at 10:31 PM. |

![]() This sounds promising at least. Perhaps Beta-1 will really come out early 2009 then. |

Re: Windows 7
I'm a subscriber and rumors are the first closed beta will be rolling out around early Jan but don't quote me on that. If you guys are really interested in testing the the closed beta I'd recommend going over to Microsoft Connect and signing up when it becomes available.

Re: Windows 7
I suppose "new boot environment" means I couldn't, say, install this on a partition alongside my Vista64 partition, then remove that partition without mucking about with files? Does it take over boot like Vista does with XP?

Re: Windows 7
Any guess on when it will be released? I'm wondering if I should wait until then instead of getting Vista now.

Re: Windows 7
Till I read this thread I didn't even know about Windows 7. I am a member of MS connect from the XP64 Betas, looks like I need to get my #2 computer up and test-o test-o
