Microsoft's Windows 7 Beta 1 Leaks
With Windows 7 scheduled to hit retailers mid-to-late 2009, Microsoft has been working in a frenzy to prepare for its launch. It bumped up the development schedule for Windows Vista's second service pack, airing its beta early this month. Windows 7 itself has been on a tough schedule itself, dropping milestone releases that have been creating a great deal of public buzz.

someone please inform microsoft that they would be much further ahead and with far less problems if they would just drop 32bit altogether.....

Re: Microsoft's Windows 7 Beta 1 Leaks
i've been wanting to try the OS myself, but i'm too moralistic and do not believe that torrenting the OS is correct. All the OSes i have ever installed, i have purchased

But really, people running cpu's without 64-bit support (which have been available since 2004), probably shouldn't be purchasing new operating systems for those systems.

Re: Microsoft's Windows 7 Beta 1 Leaks
i installed vista sp1 32bit on my machine last night. it's working perfectly fine. and from what i understand about w7, is that it's not going to be as resource intensive as vista currently is. so, i don't see what the big deal about not introducing a 32bit flavor of the OS. however, 4 flavors (home basic, home premium, business, ultimate) of the OS per bit support, that's a bit much.

Re: Microsoft's Windows 7 Beta 1 Leaks
windows 7 is more efficient then vista......far more....
but building on 32bit still is a utter waist of time, considering thier similarities, it should really be dropped. actually the 64bit cpu's launched in april of 2003.... so we've all been dragging our asses on 32bit OSes for the last nearly 6 years. Vista is a working solution for the 32bit machines, the windows 7 should have just let it go at that. Unfortunately not, a well, we will know microsoft is waisting time on thier next generation OS if they support 32bit yet again. Additionally, never did understand the real need for 32bit in vista, considering that at launch, 4gb systems were just coming into being viable. And what's worse, if the advertising of 4gb system that are sold with 32bit OSes....... bloody irritating.
