My two Complaints
First and foremost, I want an up button in Windows Explorer. I can understand making it hidden by default, but not having the availability of one is just dumb. (The Alt+Up shortcut hurts my fingers, so don't suggest it.)
Secondly, what the hell is this? What's even worse is you can open MSPaint for XP if you have the EXE, but if you go to Save, it crashes. That's just not fair. |

Re: My two Complaints
the new MS paint is using a similare gui design as ms office 2007 or newer products.
Take a little time to work through the gui... it's a alot different, but as soon as you understand how it works, it's far more capable then the shittier old version.

Re: My two Complaints
That's... exactly what I don't like. If I want a capable image system, I'll use The GIMP (which I do). I use MSPaint for designing application icons, pixel by pixel, selecting colors individually and using either the pencil or the line tool almost exclusively. I have no use for any other features.
I'll probably end up making my own MSPaint clone with just the basics I need... |

Re: My two Complaints
Well, did the new MSPaint remove the functions you don't want? If not, whats wrong with expanding its capabilities? I don't see the detractor there.

Re: My two Complaints
Have you tried using the zoom? You have to zoom in step by step to get to what used to be a single selection of 8x. The first 20 color boxes are static and uneditable. Setting one color for left click and another for right takes twice as long because you can't just right click a color box. It's a disaster for what I do.

Re: My two Complaints
Got a solution for the select tool being off by a pixel for bottom and right locations?

Re: My two Complaints
I second the thought on the up button, have the same problem on vista, and although some say the new way of doing it is better and much easier, i think its bollocks. I regularly find myself in cmd navigating folders, renaming files and whathave cause vista's handling of it is so subtly diffrent to XP, which most of us got used to in the mid 90's. one thing i was hopeing for in 7 was the return of the classic Windows Explorer. Shame.
As for MSpaint, can you not do the pixel by pixel thing in GIMP aswell? i can understand your frustrations when all you need is a basic piece of software, and someone keeps overloading it with stuff you dont want :@ |

among other bugs... report it. use the feedback system... it's there for a reason, and if you have beta.... you should be providing what you can. Suggest a solution. Maybe microsoft should provide an option to change the paint skin from win7 to win95 to make it easier for people that like the older version style setup.

Re: My two Complaints
I'm actually collecting a list of things to provide MS with:
Icons in Explorer and the Start menu freeze up the system and often load slowly. (See Spider Solitaire.zip for a badly made shortcut created by Win7's installation, as an example) (BE CAREFUL! THIS FILE IS THE ANTICHRIST, I SWEAR!) Some icons show the generic "unknown file" icon for no reason. Icons should do a hard reload (not from cache) on Ctrl+F5 or some other simple way. Start Menu could be improved: -Folders above files should at least be optional. -If recent programs in the Start menu is disabled, All Programs should be open by default. -Folders should open on hover with the submenu hover option. MSPaint needs to be reverted to the XP version or earlier, honestly. -The selection tool is off by a pixel. -The first 20 colors are uneditable. -Right clicking on colors needs to be brought back. When dragging the taskbar, it will occasionally glitch and move to a vertical alignment without moving the taskbar itself. (See DragVert.jpg) If Search other files and libraries is set to Don't search, the search bar in the Start menu should be hidden. Items pinned on the taskbar should be renamable, or better: have properties and a location in Explorer that's easy to get to, like opening the QuickLaunch folder. |

That would be a good idea. I wish I could rename a 'folder' when i put it on the taskbar to use as a 'quick launch' function.
