Hi.
I've been roaming around the forum, looking for some kind of solution to: HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO INSTALL CCC IF THE ONLY CCC AVAIBLE FOR WIN7 (9.8) DOES NOT SUPPORT MY DAMN LEGACY CARD (in my case x1300)? Turns out that there WAS a CCC that supported that kind of legacy card, and it was 9.3 (the first CCC version for WIN7). I'm sorry people, but yes you can't use any later CCC on legacy cards, the last one is 9.3. But where do I find it? Yeah I suffered but I found it. http://lfiles3.brothersoft.com/utili...beta_w7-32.exe Use Mobility Modder and install all of it. Oh yes, don't trust Microsoft's Update driver. Enjoy. |

Re: |WIN7| Latest Catalyst Control Center for Legacy Mobility Cards.
First off, welcome to DH.
Unfortunately for you folks with the older cards, ATI did stop supporting them. They were supposely going to issue updates for those cards on a quarterly basis, but that didn't happen, and there was no update with the 9.6s. It's still possible that they 'might' do something for the legacy cards in the 9.9s, but I wouldn't hold my breath. The be totally honest, you should be HAPPY that it doesn't support the newest CCC. ATI changed it starting with the 9.7s, and it's a steaming pile of dog poo! You might want to check out this thread, and take a look at the poll results: http://www.hardwareheaven.com/vista-ra...vista-7-a.html

Re: |WIN7| Latest Catalyst Control Center for Legacy Mobility Cards.
A bit of an update to an old post.
I just had success with installing the current legacy driver on a Mobility Radeon X1300 (modded with Mobility Modder). Everything seems to be working fine. Details: IBM/Lenovo T60 2007-FTG, ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 OS: Windows7 Win7 32 bit Package version: Legacy Driver Catalyst 10.2 for Vista 32 bits ( ATI Catalyst? Legacy Display Driver ) Actual display driver version: 8.593.100.0 (dated 10/Feb 2010) Driver package modded with MM v1.2.0.0 Final Edition Installed after uninstalling all other drivers and ATI software Hope that provides enough keywords for anyone who google for an answer to find this post

I'm running Windows XP on my rather old Toshiba laptop (specs as listed on the left). I'm thinking of upgrading my OS to Windows 7 32-bit. While (I think) my laptop meets the minimum specs for Windows 7 32-bit, I'm worried that my graphics card (also a ATI Mobility Radeon X1300) won't be compatible with Windows 7 due to Toshiba not offering driver support for this legacy card. How exactly did you successfully install the current driver for the X1300 while making it compatible with Windows 7? I take it I have to install Legacy Driver Catalyst 10.2 for Vista 32-bit from the link you provided, and then use Mobility Modder v1.2? Will the Vista driver work on Windows 7? Obviously I'm hesitant to go through the process of backing-up my files and buying and installing Windows 7, only to discover my graphics card won't work, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks! |

Re: |WIN7| Latest Catalyst Control Center for Legacy Mobility Cards.
There's no guarantee with your laptop from what I've seen, sprocket. The legacy drivers on the ATI website (yes, I know that they haven't been used in this case) state that it doesn't work with Toshiba laptops.
Having said that, if you install Windows 7 on your laptop it should have integrated drivers for the X1300. You won't have the CCC but if that's not a concern you should be fine. The worst that could happen is that you don't find the driver you're after, following the install of Windows 7 and you have to reformat back to your current OS.

Re: |WIN7| Latest Catalyst Control Center for Legacy Mobility Cards.
Thanks for the reply Takaharu.
I don't have the CCC (I assume we're talking about the Catalyst Control Centre?) on my laptop in its current configuration anyway, because I used Mobility Modder to update my drivers for XP last year and thus it got removed when I uninstalled the old driver prior to updating. I've never heard of Windows 7 having integrated drivers for the X1300. A quick Google search hasn't turned anything up either. So I hope you don't mind that I won't be pursuing this option until I'm absolutely certain that a certain method will work. I've read on a couple of forums that Catalyst 8.1 works for the X1300 on Windows 7. (I'd provide a link to where I've read this, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to do that.) Any thoughts? |

Re: |WIN7| Latest Catalyst Control Center for Legacy Mobility Cards.
Hi sprocket. My Win7 was installed without any specific ATI driver and it worked. The reason I wanted to have the ATI driver was because I wanted CCC. I tried a few different combinations without success, then read somewhere that Vista drivers can be used/tried in Win7 so I gave it a try. Lenovo has a Vista driver for my laptop but CCC didnt work with it, so I thought I'd give the Modder a try.
So the key message here are: - Win7 32bit installed without any specific graphics driver on my laptop - ATI's Vista driver worked on Win7 My laptop's original 80G harddisk was getting to small for me so I upgraded to a 300G piece. You may also consider upgrading the harddisk while switching to Win7 - then you can pull out the old harddisk and install Win7 onto the new harddisk - then it wont affect your old installation if it doesnt work. |

Re: |WIN7| Latest Catalyst Control Center for Legacy Mobility Cards.
Hi itworks. Thanks for your suggestions.
So just to clarify (and judging from your earlier post on June 22), you used MobilityModder to get the X1300 Vista drivers to work for Windows 7? And everything just worked - no having to tweak anything? Also, thanks for the hard drive idea. I was thinking of simply upgrading the important bits (e.g. RAM and hard drive) of my laptop anyway, since most of it is still in excellent working condition, so I'll probably do what you suggested - pull out my old hard drive, plug in the new one, install Windows 7 on the new one, and see if the X1300 Vista drivers work with Mobility Modder. Do forgive my naivety/dumb questions, because I'm quite green when it comes to fiddling with the innards of a computer. Thanks so much. |

Re: |WIN7| Latest Catalyst Control Center for Legacy Mobility Cards.
Hi Sprocket,
Yes I didnt need to tweak anything with the driver other than to use the MobilityModder. Good luck with your endeavours with the new harddisk/Win7. I upgraded to 2G ram also and it helped a lot with the laptop speed. |
