Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
The left one is my laptop (i7-2630QM, 6GB DDR3 1333, GT 540M, Seagate Momentus XT 500GB).
Edit: even hybrid HDD won't go higher than 5.9 :P Right one desktop, specs in sig... Wish I could put the laptop CPU/RAM in the desktop... or cram the 6950 in my laptop

I'm not all that concerned about the HDD score. I'll be sticking with HDDs for quite sometime yet. SSDs just cost too danged much, and until they have a 750+GB SSD at something that approaches a reasonable price, I'm not switching. I run more than 1 OS with HyperOS (I've run as many as 10), so I need a good sized drive to hold all of them.

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
Just out of brutal curiousity, why do you run 10?
Also, does it affect your score?

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
I'm not running that many now, but at one time I had:
1 for wife 1 for #1 son 1 for #2 son 2 for general usage (Primary & Secondary/testing) 2 for flight sims (Primary & Secondary/testing) 2 for shooter games (Primary & Secondary/testing) 1 used as a Secondary/testing partition for the wife and kid's OSs The reason I had 2 identical was that I could install the latest drivers/patches in the Secondary one, and if all went well, I would copy/clone it back on top of the Primary. If not, I could just boot back to the Primary, and then work on either fixing the problems in the Secondary or copy/clone the Primary back to it for further testing. I had one each for the wife and kids so that they could install anything that they wanted without taking the chance that it would bork my system(s). If I would have tried putting everything in just one OS, then it would have been a huge bloated OS that wold have not run very well at all. Having lots of smaller "leaner" systems kept them running a close to peak efficiency. That was especially true in the XP days. Also, even though I had gone to Vista, the wife had a genealogy prog that wouldn't work properly on Vista. It really didn't like XP all that well since it was originally for 98/ME, but, she refused to change, so her's XP, whilst all of the others were Vista x64. When I was beta testing for HOS, I had an HDD that I used that had XP, Vista, and Win 7 OSs one it. I had both the 32 and 64 bit versions for each. That was for trying to 'break' HOS to see what bugs there were. Also, does it affect your score?[/QUOTE] Not that I ever noticed. I guess it 'could' affect the disk score if one partition was at the beginning of the HDD, and the other was at the end.

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
You know as soon as several people nail a 7.9 on readily available hardware, MS will hide new specs in an "update" and everybody will be back at 5.9......

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
Surely SR-2s with 2GHZ triple channel have been hitting 7.9 on CPU for some time?

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
I actually have 3 "555"s but the last one may have some problems unlocking. It did at first, but then the system started shutting off...... I disabled ACC and it's fine. I haven't messed with it yet to see if I can get it right. For the board it's in 2 cores is more than enough anyways, but I'll get back to it some day. The first two are quads, plain and simple.
![]() Haven't cracked 4ghz though..... haven't seriously tried either.

I have no complaints as it stands... I just felt this system donated by the HH admins deserved a SSD upgrade.

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
running a Vertex 120gb on a crippled Marvel 9xx SATA III 6gbps adapter (one of the first out... and it's horrible... max read/write is 300MB.... and on the intel ICH10R it maxes at 266MB/s..... so i was kinda not sure which one i should stick it on.. went with marvel.... had 1 BSOD near the start of loading drivers when in windows..... but loads into windows in about 6 seconds flat)

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
Don't ya just love how windows gives the same score for crossfired cards as it does for a single of the same card?

Re: Share your Windows 7 Experience Index
naw i don't care all that much..
i'm just surprised that with my vertex 3 120gb running at essentially HALF of it's rated speed managed to hit 7.9 while others can't seem to break the 7.4 ot 7.6 mark.... i wonder why....
