Re: What antivirus client do you use (if any) on Windows 7

Microsost Security Essentials is all you need now it's free.

If your a gamer and are willing to buy one get Norton Gamer Edition. I used it for a year and was happy. Very low usuage of ram and there was even a screen on the GUI showing how much ram it was usuing and shut down for games. I never thought I would give Norton a thumbs up but I can't bitch.

I personally use NOD32 ver 4. Seems to work fine so far.

For those who don't use antivirus at all I would recommend checking out this site VirusTotal - Free Online Virus and Malware Scan . You submit a file and they run it through all the popular virus scanners and then some.

Yes, I was quite satisfied with that product. It was about time Symantec actually made a decent program.

Currently none , I figured that with anti-virus or not I will have to re install my OS every two months or so.

I run AVG 9.0 in line with Spywareblaster and Spybot S&D. It seems to fit my needs.

Norton really has gotten a lot better over the past year or two - just installed it on my daughter and son-in-law's new Core2 (T6600) laptop and I couldn't "feel" it running...

I've gone back to Norton AV (trying the 2010 version) just for the sake of running something in the background, and I am satisfied with it. Basically what swimtech said.

I use Kaspersky Internet Security 2010...It runs pretty damn good and I don't have any glitches or lags on my system with Win7 and KIS 2010. KIS 2010 gives more performance than other version of KIS and KAV (6,7,8), I am really impressed how it is running on my system..

I use Avast on XP. I was using AVG until 2 months ago and I am very happy that I switched. Avast is lighter and more efficient.

Stopped using AV clients some years ago. I still do some random scans when suspecting something but I really see no need for an active guard. If one knows how to use web, it's a problem free solution to stop using one.

Last AV clients I used were AVG free and Avast!.

Re: What antivirus client do you use (if any) on Windows 7

I recently put Microsoft Security Essentials on my Aunts pc a couple weeks ago and the grandkids were over for Holiday break and they got a virus called winwebsec which Microsoft Security Essentials couldn't remove. I had to install Avast to get rid of it. Just a heads up.
