A WiFi issue on W7.

I'm using RC1 on my laptop, and I'm getting this really annoying bug from my wifi. It finds networks and connects seamlessly, but over time, the signal strength just decreases constantly until it becomes dial-up speed stuff. Along with the slow speed, the laptop gets random short freezes. If I'm listening to music, it sounds like someone's grinding metal for a split second. I've tried changing random settings in the advanced settings and that didn't help at all. I never had this problem with the operating system that originally came with the laptop (Vista Home Premium x86).

My laptop is the MSI EX-620.

Did microsoft find it's own drivers for the wireless card and install them? I have Win7 on an old desktop, wireless to my router up stairs.... every time MS installs an "updated" driver for that card I have problems.... install the ancient XP version of the driver that came with the card and all is fine.

Maybe try a Vista driver, see if it works better.

MSI's driver installers automatically choose the operating system version so I can't change that. It's the same with the Intel wifi drivers MSI has on their support page.. Maybe going with the underdog wasn't such a good idea?

Re: A WiFi issue on W7.

I have a similar issue. I'll notice internet speeds crawling and look at the network control panel and it reports the connection speed at 1.0mbps. I find that re-setting the router solves the problem.

Also the newer Broadcom wireless adapter driver that is posted on Windows Update is seemingly worse than the older one that was included with the Windows 7 installation disc.

I'm using college wifi. Whenever I go back home, my wifi just works. I read on another forum that these random freezes could be because the computer is searching for other networks.
