Long folder names not displaying correctly

anyone help with this

if i use a long name for a folder in Win 7 it has a habit of splitting the name over 2 lines so a folder called Documentation would end up displaying as

Documentati
on

i have looked at the Set custom Text size in display but it lets me make the text bigger but not smaller

anyone have an Idea ?

cheers

Re: Long folder names not displaying correctly

I'm assuming by 'folder' you mean ICON on your desk top.

If so you CAN change the text size.

1. Right click on the desktop and choose Personalize

2. At the bottom click on Window Color

3. At the bottom click on Advanced appearance settings...

4. Click the drop down for the Item: menu.

5. Click on Icon.

You will see options for changing the Font and Size. Be advised, this will also change the text size in COMPUTER as well.

You other option would be to go to the same place, but increase the size next to Icon.

That doesn't appear to change the actual size of the Icon itself, but instead seems to increase the width of the 'text area' and distance between the icons on your desktop.

That's OK. I don't worry about getting rep. As long as it helped is good enough for me.

Re: Long folder names not displaying correctly

Hmmm i probably should have reboot and checked before declaring peace on walton mountain , after a reboot my screen is well messed up

basically i didnt note the default settings before changing them so if someone on win 7 could do me a favour

set the desktop to 1024x768

then follow the steps Buzzard posted and please choose Icon from the drop down menu and please tell me the Size and the default Font and Size

then choose Icon Horizontal and tell me the Size

Then choose Icon Vertical and tell me the size

sounds like a lot but will really only take about a minute

cheers guys
