Longshot Driver Question
I have Windows 7 64-bit installed and it was working fine. Then one day, out of the blue, I started getting a balloon notice that there was a driver incompatibility. I found a 64-bit version of this driver online, installed it and the notice went away.
The problem is I can't remember what the driver was called, and my system is starting to have problems with Sleep Mode. The driver, I thought, was "traid" or "triade" or something to that effect, but Googling the name doesn't yield anything. Does anyone have a guess as to what driver I'm talking about? (I'd probably recognize the website.) As for the Sleep problem my system would initially go into and come out of Sleep mode fine. Then it looked like the system was sending it into Standby or Hibernate mode because instead of the desktop popping up the Windows started up screen with Resuming would. Now my computer is actually crashing and rebooting completely with the dreaded "Windows did not shut down properly" error. I'm not sure if this "traid" or "triade" driver is to blame but I thought it would be a good place to start since this problem wasn't happening until upgrading the driver. Any insight, thoughts, speculations, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Longshot Driver Question
Can't windows automatic search for driver/updates fix the problem or diagnose it ?
Also Do you know what piece of hardware that driver is related to ? Maybe you cold remove any cards connected to the computer MB slots , unplug unnecessary hardware connected to the computer and see if the problem still exist. It could a driver/software conflict. Another suggestion to install a clean copy of windows , sometimes the system falls apart and start misbehaving due to some bugs , viruses , malware or just without logical reason lol. |

Re: Longshot Driver Question
I have no idea what hardware the driver is related to. I considered re-installing Windows, but I just did that after a different problem started occurring a few weeks ago I really don't want to take several days to re-install everything again.
As for pulling hardware cards out I haven't tried it... yet. I only have a Hauppauge TV card and a second video card (both video cards are nVidia). I don't see how either could be causing the problem but, then again, stranger things have happened I'm sure.

Re: Longshot Driver Question
You can use programs like Norton Ghost or some free alternatives for backup and restore Here.

Re: Longshot Driver Question
Can't say I've heard of that name or anything similar that you described. If it is crashing too often, and you can't find a fix for it, then you really should just reinstall Windows. It's a pain, but it's a good lesson on backing up your copy of Windows. Follow comp_ali's advice and use Norton, Acronis, or another alternative software to backup a copy right after you install Windows (and maybe just the basic drivers/programs). That way if anything else goes wrong in the future, you don't have to reinstall everything again.
