seven pro or ultimate?!

The only difference in both systems is that ultimate has 35 different languages and bitlocker (don't need) so should I go for the pro or ultimate?!

Re: seven pro or ultimate?!

I would personally get professional unless you need multiple languages on 1 machine.

Re: seven pro or ultimate?!

frankly i don't see the need for even pro for even some most things..

the only reason to get pro would be for domain networks and windows XP mode

Ultimate is imo a waste of money above that.

I've personally only setup 2 businesses with Pro simply because they needed Windows XP mode for programs that were made in 1981 and will not work at all under 64bit OS

aside from that.... everything else is home premium.

I have PRO, and wanted to run CFS1 on it, but found out that you can't game in XP mode. It's not for 3D applications.

If that's the ONLY thing you want XP mode for, then it won't be worth it. I still use it for one of the wife's geneology programs, so I still 'did a good thing' by going to PRO.

gaming under windows XP mode is pretty much pointless.. short of some specific dos games that generally still don't work under that..

DX doesn't work in XP mode. For games, I use VMLite, which Tipstaff recommended. It uses the same XP image that's used to run regular XP Mode and it's equaly simple to install, but it has DX support and it can work on all editions of Windows 7 (and not just 7).
