Hidden partition suddenly visible.

For some reason Win 7 creates a hidden partition at the beginning of the drive, about a 100Mb, when installing it. No biggie, I guess it's how it's supposed to be. It's been hidden all the time though, only visible with a partitioning program or such.

However, now it suddenly appears as a partition when I open "my computer" with an assigned drive letter.

First of all I don't see how this happened, I just know it did when I was forced to reboot after a failed format on a USB stick locked the system up. So, any idea would be interesting to hear.

The big thing is though, I don't WANT to see it.. how can I get it to go hide itself again?

sounds like the system tried to assign a letter or read the usb flash drive and it went wrong and slapped a letting on the hidden partition.

The hidden partition had no drive letter so that's why it's hidden, all anyone has to do is stick a drive letter on it and it won't be hidden anymore..

probablem is..you'd have to find a way to remove the drive letter.

in disk management cant u just right click, assign drive letter then hit remove in the box? to skeered to try on ne of mine!

Indeed, like this: Start the Disk Management tool (diskmgmt.msc), right click on the volume and choose to change drive letter, then click remove in the next window.

It worked to just remove the drive letter

I was a bit afraid it would cause problems but it didn't.
