Internet Explorer 9 so far

Best BETA browser i've used (notice BETA), feels great. Developers probably will still hate it, but well laid out browser. Hopefully they don't mess this up for the developers!

God damn its quick and the interface is amazing. I ain't no web developer, more IT/systems analyst work. Liking this a lot. Feels a bit like chrome. This site seems to load ok

That's good , guess I ill give it a shot. I hope Microsoft learnt from its faults and its previous slow and buggy IE's.

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

I guess it's "OK"...

I'm not real happy with the location of the favorites Icon. I really liked the layout of IE8. I guess it's a matter of 'adapting' so maybe IE9 will "Ride up with wear"

I'm a real glutton for punishment too, since I also installed the Adobe Flash beta and I'm usoig the 64-bit browser

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

I could personally do away with the home/favorite buttons actually..

however one thing i do miss is the drop down "back/forward" default layout feature.

That is until one simply right clicks on the appropriate button and selects what they wishes...

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

i've yet to have it crash.. however one perticular site.... a forum.... the scroll bar doesn't appear to be there and only change the size of the window makes it appear..

aside from that.. it's fucking fast compared to google chrome or anything else

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

How is flash running on it? Just curious... Firefox's flash plugin-container has had nothing but issues and I've been looking at using a different browser. Wondering if any testers are using Silverlight and Netflix at all.

flash runs good, i just have a lot of problems with sites that don't support it for school (such as blackboard system, and Turnitin > #1 Plagiarism Checker to Ensure Academic Integrity) or sometimes videos/modules won't load. Otherwise most major sites work no problem

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

I also did encounter a few sites that will not render correctly, and also noticed that there is a certain "lag" when switching between tabs. It seems it will suspend the rendering on the inactive tabs until you activate them.

I was unable to crash it yet (and I did try), so that's a good thing. You can tell there is a great speed advantage over the previous versions of IE, during normal usage I could dare compare it to Chrome (I know it doesn't test that high yet, but when I'm using it it seems faster then the actual benchmarks would suggest).

HTML5 sites work great, I hope people will move towards it ASAP, but I also hope they will not overdo it, like it happened with flash sites in the past, when they used flash for the sake of flash and not actual user experience.

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

I just got IE9 recently and wow is that ever a change! They have really set a standard there with making a hardware-accelerated browser; the webpages render a heck of a lot faster.
The interface is really light too, which I like but having the tabs on the same row as the address bar... that's still up for debate; I'm not sure if I like everything stuck together like that but it does minimise the amount of visible browser...

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

the search in one bar is helpful for people like my bro who will literally go to google, then search hotmail, then go to hotmail (or use the search bar on the side). but it gets annoying sometimes as it brings up the first result if the browser logic thinks its correct. you end up having to go back to google.

I've seen SO many people do stuff like that, it's absurd. Come on, is it really that hard to remember to add 4 characters on the end of the word Facebook?
Google to Facebook to Google to Hotmail to Google...

Any major websites like that automatically redirect you even if you get the domain suffix wrong!

Right, off-topic rant over with...

Google to Facebook to Google to Hotmail to Google...

Any major websites like that automatically redirect you even if you get the domain suffix wrong!

Right, off-topic rant over with...
I used to use google to get to some websites. For a reason. I had a history for the websites I visited the most and if I entered the address in the url field of another site those would drop down and could get lost outside the active history...

Used to is the key here though. Since todays browsers, or at least Firefox, have a memory for these things and always keep the sites I visit most on the top even if I type in other url's I don't need to do it like that anymore.

THough, old habits die hard and I find myself doing this quite often anyway.

Thing is. I don't want any unnecessary stuff in my browsers. No toolbars, no quick links and such, I want it clean and a maximum area avaliable for displaying the actual websites. Neat and tidy, no bloatware in my computers, and that's the major reason why I have done it like this in the past.

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

How are your experiences with passwords guys? FF will ask to remember passwords every time, where as IE will only ask 1/2 the time.

Re: Internet Explorer 9 so far

ie9 has always asked for passwords EXCEPT for Encrypted stuff like banking that i find...

Although i think you can enable this as well.

i disabled remembering passwords though on my own main machine.

no it misses it pretty often man...like it will ask to save about 70% of the time and then sometimes forget to do it. for banking it will never save it on any browser, that makes sense.

for example, my HH username will show up but not the password. then it wont prompt me to update it. its a hit or miss. chrome and firefox never miss it

i've used this password feature since its been around, and has been the case for years with IE with tons of comps. sorry judas lol. but ie9 is still good.
