Installing SP2 on windows 7 ?

Yesterday i bought a new game, and its telling me i need to install Vista Service pack 2 in order to install this game, is it possible to install this service pack on my Desktop when im running Windows 7 home premium ?

If so how do i go around this, i have tried downloading it, but it just says the pack is not compatable with my current OS or something ?

Help anyone ?

Did you try installing it in "compatibility mode" ?

Re: Installing SP2 on windows 7 ?

Yeah, Vista SP2 wont install on Win7. Its not compatible and any shared code in 7 will already have the various patches from Vista SP2 applied.

What game is it?

Right click the game icon, choose "Properties", then "Compatibility". There tick the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2)" from the drop down list.

Two things I noticed when googling Final Fantasy IV are that the game is supposed to run fine on Windows 7, but also that it won't be released another eight days, which could be an indication of why it's not working right. If you really bought it, you may want to shop elsewhere in the future.

Re: Installing SP2 on windows 7 ?

I'm having the exact same issue but when you say to "right click the final fantasy xiv icon". Do you mean the icon under Start > Computer? That's the only icon I see. I clicked on properties but I could not find anythign about "compatibility." All help is appreciated. Thanks.

go into the COMPUTER~> dvd rom drive (you'll want to open the folder) and then right click the Install.exe/setup.exe file or whatever it is that runs to install.. and make the admin/capability changes there.. then run it
