Task Scheduler extreme gui lag?

Hi fellas...uh, well I have Win7 x64 Edition (Ultimate) Yes I went all-out after seeing it in action. Really a nice OS.
Anyway...this isn't so much a problem as it is just a really confusing occurrence. Lag on the task scheduler. Wh-?!

I set a task to run a playlist file with god knows what song to blast me out of bed in the morning, so I go to set
up the scheduler for whatever time I need to get up the next morning. (i.e: It's Friday night, I'll set it for 10AM
instead of the usual 8) so when I go to do so or the other way round, I notice the whole task scheduler window
is acting like Crysis on a 486. Only for a couple seconds or so, so it's not really causing any trouble, but I am
kinda curious at what would cause that. Had Win7 for almost a month now & had absolutely no problems besides.

So...any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It sounds pretty normal. My Task Scheduler often takes a few seconds to list all the events for a specific category (especially if that category has a lot of events, naturally). Unless you are seeing very unusual behavior I'd say there's not much to worry about.

I hope this is an answer you were looking for.

Hmm, that'd be perfect if I had more than only this one task on the whole list. lol
Oh well, as I mentioned before it's not a problem so much as it is just kinda odd.
Thanks for the input, man.

Re: Task Scheduler extreme gui lag?

If you are using one, it could be that either an anti-virus software, or anti-malware software is actively scanning Task Scheduler as you are using it. This is because a lot of malware/trojans like to add themselves as tasks in order to keep infecting the machine, so they keep an active watch on that, and other areas (like the Startup folder).

So, what you could do is disable your AV/AM software, and try Task Scheduler again to see how it responds.

Oh, and be sure to disable Windows Defender too before you do this as one of it's features is to watch TS.

Oh, hmm I have MalwareBytes but I have it disabled...wouldn't surprise me if it did it, overprotective thing...
I'll check Windows Defender and make sure it & MWB are disabled. This sounds quite plausible. Thanks Tipstaff.

Edit: Looks like Windows Defender was the culprit. I'll be leaving it on anyway though. Just nice to know the cause.
Thanks for the help.
