McAfee royally -_-s up again!
So i had a customer come in with a laptop that just wasn't working.. slow loading it seemed and oventually would fail to boot.
Safe mode basically resulting in no change.. a directory service restore was a last ditch effort which unforunately made things basically impossible to resolve. STOP 0x0000009A SYSTEM_LICENSE_VIOLATION STOP 0x0000009A During Restore of Registry Serfice it to say... the machine came with McAfee which was emediately removed by the user and another anti-virus program was installed.. However that was months ago.. there should have been multiple backups of the registry since then so what happened? Either way.... the pooch is screwed because a windows repair option is out of the question, the license has been modified, windows refuses to do anything, and yanking the drive out and stuffing it in another machine in attempt to resolve it has been a failure because the key before the restore appears to have vanished and there is no telling where or what can be done. There is basically nothing on mcafee's site that mentions anything like this.. and there is no way to reinstall the netshield or whatever the hell it is because you can't get into windows at all even under safe mode. I never sold this laptop to the customer.. it's not mine.. and i'm even thoroughly royally pissed of with mcafee. in what world would the licensing EVER need to be modified like this...
