Re: Anybody know what this is??? sounds on boot.
Disabling HDMI audio seems to have rid the system of two out of the three "bleeps"...... I've only restarted once so that's not proven to be permanent but does seem to have had an effect.

Don't want to jinx things just yet.
The Logitech G15, are you plugging your mouse and joystick into it directly? My advice, don't use the USB ports on it. They are only USB 1.1 ports, non-powered too, and I've found they cause me more grief than they are worth. |

Re: Anybody know what this is??? sounds on boot.
Each unit plugs directly into the motherboard USB ports, not the hub in the g15, generally I don't use external hubs of any sort if there's enough motherboard ports.
Secondly, after a cold boot all three "beeps" are back.... so it wasn't HDMI audio.....

Re: Anybody know what this is??? sounds on boot.
Just to rule this out, can you go into MSCONFIG (Windows key + R, MSCONFIG), disable all startup items, then reboot (unless you've done this already).
BTW, do you have any Windows gadgets running? |

Re: Anybody know what this is??? sounds on boot.
No gadgets.........
I'll try the MSCONFIG deal........ If that doesn't help how do I re-add stuff that may be there? EDIT: never mind about re-adding, Got it sorted. No sounds on re-boot.... no stuff either like security essentials, CCC, etc......... adding back a few at a time.

Even though the sounds are "supposed" to be different I was wondering if they got mixed up or something, so the sounds you were hearing were Windows application fault sounds, and not device detection/error sounds. |

Re: Anybody know what this is??? sounds on boot.
Actually I did just the opposite, I added back everything but logitech and CTHelper and it's friends and no sounds. So then I added CTHelper etc...... still no sounds. Process of elimination it's the Logitech crap which I don't need as I don't game using the keyboard.
Looks like the problem is solved, Thanks Tipstaff and anybody else that chimed in.

Re: Anybody know what this is??? sounds on boot.
It's most likely an app that has been added to the LCD Managers "Program" list. Since you got the error for SideShow, you could go into the list, and turn off support for it. In fact I wouldn't doubt if it was the alerts from the manager itself warning about the SideShow error in the first place.

Re: Anybody know what this is??? sounds on boot.
I remember, now, that sometime "about the same time this all started" I updated the Logitech drivers. I never put the two together.......
The SIDESHOW has been disabled in hardware with no effect on the sounds (see above) but the driver was still loading..... I could roll back the drivers but it's working now so......Thanks man!
